With magnificent views over Lake Windermere and towards the Lakeland Fells, Gone Sailing is in the perfect location to explore the Lake District National Park.. 2 steps to entrance.

Dining area.
Kitchen area: Electric Oven, Electric Hob, Microwave, Fridge
Bedroom 1: Double (4ft 6in) Bed
Bedroom 2: Single (3ft) Bed
Shower Room: Cubicle Shower, Toilet. Economy 7 central heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi included. Travel cot and highchair. . Landscaped grounds (shared with other properties on-site). Private parking for 2 cars, 100 yards away. No smoking. Please note: There is an unfenced lake 150 yards away.. Gone Sailing nestles in a row of similar, south facing, self-catering cottages offering single story accommodation and commanding glorious views over Lake Windermere towards the Lakeland fells. In an elevated position on a grassy bank in front of the elegant former Priory Hotel, Gone sailing shares direct access to the lake, approached down a leafy wooded lane, which brings you right to the water’s edge and private jetty. Sitting between the popular Lakes villages of Windermere and Bowness, the property offers guests an ideal location to make the most of this much loved area. With a range of independent retailers, pavement cafés, pubs, restaurants and of course the Beatrix Potter attraction, there really is something for everyone close at hand. Walks from the door take in the breathtaking typically Lakeland scenery, though guests at Gone Sailing have the advantage of simply looking out of the window to enjoy the most picture perfect views. This cottage has a peaceful setting amongst other connection cottages surrounded by trees, in a clearing where sun sets outside your place and has a stunning small view of the lake. We even saw some small roe deer. 10 min walk to the jetty and a refreshing dip in the lake.
The location is a 15 min walk up to Windermere or 25 min to Bownes. Buses can take you everywhere to explore the beauty of this part of the Lake District. We shall return!

Really good, quiet location overlooking the lake close to Bowness and Windermere. Really enjoyed our stay and would return.

We enjoyed the quiet location with a view of the lake. We thought although the cottage was mainly clean, we had one little issue as the kitchen area, utensils, cooker etc could have been cleaner as one of the party has coeliac disease, so we needed to ensure that everything being prepared was highly cleaned (to avoid cross contamination).
We enjoyed the walk into the towns and the nearby walks, especially down to the lake side. We would recommend this to someone wishing to use this as a base in a quiet location. We had a lovely week. Thank you.
