* Your Private Nature Sanctuary
Welcome to a place where you can truly slow down, breathe, and unwind. The moment you arrive, you will understand why this historic cabin is my absolute favorite escape. It perfectly blends the authentic, rustic charm of a country retreat, featuring original hand-carved logs from 1840, with all the modern necessities you need for a comfortable stay—all while being just 5 miles (about 7 minutes) away from town.

* Porch Sitting & Wildlife Watching
• The Front Porch: Sip your morning coffee on the cozy, covered front porch. On rainy days, there is nothing quite like the soothing sound of rain falling on the classic metal roof.
• The Back Deck: Relax on the back deck overlooking a private yard framed by tree cover.
• Local Wildlife: Keep an eye on the sky for the resident Bald Eagle that lives around the area! In the early hours of dawn and late into sunset, you will frequently see gentle deer grazing in the yard (or sometimes the front!).

* Natural Spring-Fed Creeks
The backyard is bordered by three unique creeks fed by natural springs, which all flow into a main stream at the back of the property. Take a peaceful stroll across the wooden footbridges to explore the yard. Please note: due to seasonal weather and regional droughts, water levels fluctuate naturally, but the peaceful wooded setting remains unmatched.

* Vintage Entertainment & Family Fun
Rainy day or just staying in? I have fully stocked the cabin with nostalgic indoor entertainment for all ages:
• For the Adults: Spin your favorite tracks on the vintage vinyl record player (featuring radio, CD, and Bluetooth capabilities) or browse the large DVD and Blu-ray collection for a classic movie night.
• For the Kids: A variety of fun toys, classic board games, card games, and jigsaw puzzles are ready to keep the little ones fully entertained.
• Video Games: Fire up the classic video games for some retro gaming fun that the whole group will love, including an Atari Gold (120 games), a 50-in-1 console, a Pac-Man joystick game, and a Nintendo DS with a 64-game cartridge.

* Modern Comforts in a Historic Setting
While I encourage you to step away from the screens and soak in the "symphony of nature," you won't be entirely cut off. Enjoy the best of both worlds with fast Wi-Fi for your devices, a fully equipped kitchen, an outdoor grill, and hassle-free lockbox self-check-in.

* Local Context & Proximity
Only a 5-mile drive off the interstate and nestled between Staunton and Harrisonburg:
• Only 7 miles to Historic Downtown Staunton
• Only 15 miles to Harrisonburg (home of JMU)
• Massanutten Resort is just a scenic 25-minute drive (10 miles past Harrisonburg).

* A Guided Tour of the Space (3 Levels of Comfort)

* Main Level: Kitchen, Dining, & Living Room
• Fully Stocked Kitchen: Features a massive island with 4 stools, plus a corner breakfast table with 2 chairs. Comes fully equipped with a refrigerator/freezer, microwave, stove/oven, toaster, waffle iron, and a Keurig machine stocked with K-pods, creamers, and sugars.

• Cozy Space Living Room: Features a small couch, two cushy seating spots, two comfy fold-out butterfly chairs, a remote-controlled propane fireplace (turned off in summer), and a full dining table with 4 chairs plus a long bench. TV features antenna broadcast channels (ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS, ION, TrueCrime, Outlaw, the365).

* Upper Level: Sleeping Spaces & Full Bath

Grab the 4 provided outdoor blankets and the stack of lawn chairs to gather around the outdoor fire pit, or take the short 500-yard (0.3-mile) walk down Bald Rock Road to access the Middle River for fishing, swimming, tubing, nature viewing.

* Parking & Accessibility
• Ample Parking: The long pull-through, off-street driveway easily fits at least 5 vehicles.
• Large Vehicles: Moving trucks or vehicles towing trailers can be a snug but manageable fit using the farther end of the driveway. For larger vehicles, I recommend backing in at this end. Clear, step-by-step directions are provided in the physical guest manual for exiting from that direction without ever having to make a U-turn!

• Safety & Security: A security camera is installed on-site, strictly viewing the driveway area for your safety.

Absolutely great stay!

Rebecca's cabin was very clean, cozy and extraordinarily well-equipped! Every time I thought of some item that might have made our experience better, I found it available in the house. My teenage son stated, "This place does not smell pet-friendly; it smells really good!" Rebecca was a gracious hostess and even invited us to check in early once the cabin was prepared. All light switches were labeled, and there were written instructions for everything we could have possibly had questions about, so we didn't waste our valuable vacation time bumbling around. The yard is a nature-lovers paradise, great for bird watching and amphibian spotting. To the delight of our kids, my husband found a Red Salamander on one of the bridges in the yard our first night there. My family would be happy to return to this delightful property.

The cabin was great! Nice. Homey. Plenty of space with beds for all. I love the cabin atmosphere and the outside is the best place. Host was courteous and prompt. 10/10 would definitely stay again.

Pros: The host was excellent. She responded quickly every time I had a question, she warned us of a tree that had gone down just that day, and she left the makings of s'mores for us--a very "sweet" gesture! The kitchen had everything we needed: microwave, bottled water, and a fridge. We had our choice of games and DVDs; there was a remarkable selection of both. I can speak for the bed in the master bedroom; it was comfortable. The 9 year old liked sleeping in the top bunk--and the 7 year old on the floor (just because he refused to sleep in the bottom bunk in the same room as his sister).But the place was also disappointing.Cons: I expected more since there were 46 excellent reviews. The towels looked cheap and threadbare; they should've been replaced! The electrical wiring was sketchy. (I'm particularly referring to the line with a switch that turned on the light in the den.) The screen door had big gaps in the screen, thus making it impossible to leave the door open, even if we had wanted to. There was no stair rail in the stairway leading to the basement, and the basement itself had a concrete floor. I didn't go down there myself and wouldn't let the kids go down either. And my grandson was disappointed because we wouldn't let him sleep in the loft; there was no barrier that would prevent him from rolling out of the loft! The dealbreaker was that if I had known there were window air conditioners rather than central air, I wouldn't have booked it in the first place.
