It is set within a beautiful 9-acre estate which gives guests staying here a private garden of 1½ acres. Bodwen Corner Cottage has been designed with families and small groups in mind; there is a cosy living room and 3 bedrooms that have carefully coordinated interiors and contemporary furnishings. The family bathroom and en-suite have both been decorated to a very good standard. The spacious open plan kitchen/diner has doors leading out to the patio and gardens where you can enjoy the peaceful surroundings and you may even spot one of the Island’s famous red squirrels. The property also had the added bonus of an outdoor tap, perfect for washing off walking boots and bikes. New for 2020 is an outside room, called ’The Drey’ for children to play and do crafts in. It houses lots of outside games equipment too. It is named in honour of the red squirrels in the garden and the the nests they create for their young ones.

4 miles away is the seaside town of Ryde with its good selection of individual shops, restaurants, bars, tea shops and large sandy beach. There is also an abundance of attractions to visit which include the Isle of Wight Steam Railway and Museum of Havenstreet (3¼ miles), and Osborne House, which was a former royal residence that was built for Queen Victoria and Prince Albert as a summer home and rural retreat (4¾ miles). Robin Hill Country Park offers exciting rides and adventure play all set in beautiful rolling down land and forest (4½ miles). Also worth a visit, is Amazon World, an educational and conservation centre offering over 200 animal species and rain forest plants (7½ miles), and Calbourne Water Mill (11 miles), the only working water mill on the Isle of Wight which also features a small War Museum, rural exhibits and a café. The island is also a walker’s paradise, filled with over 500 miles of footpaths across contrasting landscapes and beaches. Outdoor pursuits include walking, cycling, riding, sailing and fishing. Beach 500 yards. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

We had the nicest time at Bowden!! The cottage is beautiful and the bedrooms are much larger than they look on the website. Due to the time of year we couldn’t get out on the grounds much but they did look stunning - but we did get to see a few famous red squirrels at our door. We were hoping we would be able to walk to a pub in the evening but due to the time of year and unlit road it did not seem like a good idea but that did not impede on our good time!! In the cottage they had thought of everything down to an extra pint of milk and oil so we could cook our breakfast in the morning! We were greeted we the warmest of welcomes and even got a little goodbye present for the children! Will look into staying here again - and when restrictions lift will look into staying in a larger group in the cottage next door!! 100% recommended! We lived staying at Bodwen Corner Cottage. Surrounded on 3 sides by water, yet only 10 mins from the ferry, it was a great and incredibly quiet location. Warm and friendly, Peter and his daughter Clare have set up the perfect cottage, really an annex to the big house, situated in a large front garden where we watched the busy red squirrels searching for their nuts and enjoying the peace. The cottage had everything we wanted from comfortable beds, clean and well equipped kitchen with a dining table, a separate lounge with enough room for us all to laze about and lots of ideas for places to visit and walks to enjoy in their information booklet. Our family of 5 adults had a great week, exploring the Isle of Wight and relaxing. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

We had a wonderful stay at Bodwen. The cottage is clean and modern with everything you need. When we did have any minor issue, Peter sorted it out in a second. He even put away my Tesco order before I arrived! The grounds are beautiful and the views of the Solent are amazing. Also a 5 min drive from Fishbourne and 10 minutesfrom Ryde.
