About this cottage rental

The quiet village of Longborough lies in the pretty countryside just a few miles from Stow-on-the-Wold and Moreton-in-Marsh and is a peaceful spot where time seems to slow down. Sitting on a traditional high street of equally charming pale golden Cotswold stone buildings, Yew Tree Cottage is the picture-perfect place for a countryside caper through the Cotswolds.

Set across three floors this pretty cottage is the epitome of style and elegance and retains a wealth of original features. On the expansive ground floor, the spacious kitchen-diner with its vaulted ceiling and twin-antler chandeliers creates a real wow factor, whilst the super-stylish living room boasts a stunning, inglenook fireplace, now home to a wood-burning stove. There are three airy bedrooms and a family bathroom on the first floor, and a romantic master bedroom on the second floor with an ensuite shower room. Throughout the house, exposed wooden beams and original features sit side by side with beautiful soft furnishings and every creature comfort needed for a magical stay.

To the rear of the Yew Tree Cottage is a fully enclosed and private, south-facing garden with a pergola and patio. There's also an outside dining area with a charcoal Weber barbecue and a private driveway with parking for two cars.

Ground Floor

Entrance Porch:
The porch is used as the main entrance and is perfect for ensuring wet dogs are dried off and removing outdoor gear. There's a cushioned bench where you can sit to put on or pull off shoes and boots, a large wooden shoe rack and a handy storage cupboard.

Hall:
From the porch, step into the hallway which is warm and welcoming with wooden flooring and plenty of light. For those who have to bring work away with them, there is a desk and chair, the cottage also benefits from superfast, Gigaclear wi-fi. The hall leads to the kitchen/diner, living room and the utility and cloakroom.

Utility Room:
Leading off from the hall, this useful space houses the washing machine and tumble dryer, recycling bins and cupboard space where you'll find the highchair and iron and ironing board. There's also a ground floor cloakroom with a WC at the end of the utility room.

Kitchen/Diner:
This exceptional room is filled with light and really brings the wow factor with its high, beamed vaulted ceiling and twin antler chandeliers. The stylish white cupboards hide all manner of equipment including a dishwasher, wine cooler and plenty of cooking and baking utensils. There's a generously sized fridge-freezer and the range-style oven and induction hob is ideal for preparing delicious dishes for your guests. The wooden dining table with stylish white wicker chairs seats eight comfortably and is perfect for lazy breakfasts and sociable, relaxed evening meals by candlelight. Double doors lead out to the enclosed garden and a large floor to ceiling window floods the room with natural light. There is a shallow stone step from the hall into the kitchen.

Living Room:
Two stone steps lead up from the hall into the sumptuous living room. Taking centre stage is the magnificent inglenook fireplace with a log burner which adds a cosy warmth when the evenings turn chilly. This room forms part of the cottage that dates back to the 16th century and the original beams, exposed stone walls and windows still remain. Two plump four-seater sofas sit in front of the fire around a wooden table, which is perfect for board games, a jigsaw or resting a book. Games and puzzles can be found in the bureau beneath the stairs. A 55" OLED Smart TV sits to one side of the fireplace, hidden on a remote-controlled TV lift within a cabinet, ensuring that it does not detract from the quietly elegant feel of the room. The front door is in the centre of the front wall and whilst still in perfect working order, is rarely used.First Floor

From the corner of the living room stairs rise to the first floor.

Bedroom One:
This expansive super-king-size room can also be set up as a twin room (please ask at the time of booking if you require this). There is plenty of space and storage to unpack with a double wardrobe and chest of drawers and a glass wall unit is a pretty feature. The original beams can be seen overhead and the windows, which looks out to the front of the cottage, have white wooden shutters.

Bedroom Two:
At the end of the landing, closest to the second flight of stairs, this lovely room features a wooden-framed super king-size bed, with bedside tables and reading lamps, a vintage chest of drawers and a single wardrobe. The walls are white accentuating the wooden beams overhead. The original deep-set window looks over the quiet high street and is framed by wooden shutters.

Bedroom Three:
Looking out to the rear of the cottage this cosy room features twin beds and is decorated in shades of grey, with pale tartan wallpaper and soft fluffy cushions. A bedside table stands between the two beds topped with a reading lamp. There's a built-in cupboard for storage and younger guests will enjoy the selection of children's books on the windowsill.

Bathroom:
Enjoy leisurely soaks in the double-ended bathtub, which also has a shower over with both a rainfall showerhead and a handheld option. This lovely bathroom is spacious and beautiful featuring a vanity unit with a hand basin, large mirror and a WC. The room is finished in calming hues of greys and white with natural light from the frosted window.

Second Floor

From the first floor, there is a door and a second flight of stairs to the top floor bedroom. Please be aware of the very low beam and mind your head!

Bedroom Four:
This delightful room is a calm and restful space hidden away at the top of the house. The vaulted roof, exposed beams and original rafters add to the charm and character as does a pair of striking chandeliers. There is plenty of space to relax with a chaise longue set beneath one of the windows, the perfect spot to unwind with a good book and offers an abundance of storage with a double wardrobe, dressing table with a mirror and two sets of chest of drawers. The beautiful upholstered king-size bed has bedside tables on either side with reading lamps.

Ensuite:
Tucked away at the far end this well-appointed ensuite features a shower cubicle with both a rainfall and a handheld showerhead, WC, hand basin with storage underneath and a mirrored bathroom cabinet with lights and shaving points. The roof Velux gives views over to the green hills, dotted with trees in the distance.Outside

A really lovely spacious house, very good quality furniture, linens etc. Very homely with lots of ornaments & spotlessly clean. Village of Longborough is quiet but also handy for most tourist attractions. Enjoyed our stay and would recommend.

Gorgeous cottage in a wonderful setting. Cottage was immaculate, plenty of tea, coffee, salt, pepper, toilet paper, kitchen roll. Quality of bedding and towels etc was superb (White Company). Everything had been thought of. Lovely village shop and café two minutes walk away. Extremely close to Longborough Festival Opera Would highly recommend Yew Tree Cottage for a group of 6-8 people.

We stayed at this charming cottage in June 2025, 3 guests plus our pet dog for 1 week. The property is of a high standard and offers four bedrooms with two bathrooms. Please note the height restrictions on the second floor bedroom and bathroom are understated. Moving around this space for a week without bumping shoulders and heads is nigh on impossible as it proved. Situated in Longborough, this house is perfect for a family or group with a pet and access to a car as there are lots of nearby attractions and amenities to enjoy. What we loved most was the kitchen and courtyard garden which were perfectly sized for us to enjoy together. We would definitely return because Yew Tree Cottage is a lovely place to wind down and offers us everything we need. This cottage would be perfect for any party of up to eight travellers.
