About this house rental
Manor house with private pool and tennis court set amongst the vines next to the picturesque market Bastide town of Sainte-Foy-La Grande, part way between St Emilion and Bergerac. Bergerac airport is a 30 minute drive (Bordeaux airport just over an hour). It is therefore perfectly positioned for wine tours or kayaking along the Dordogne.
The space
The house lies on the southern range of hills which run along the Dordogne river valley and enjoys commanding views. The house sits in mature grounds of approximately 6 acres which ensures privacy and tranquility.
All 5 guest bedrooms are large (so no 'duff' room for the late arriver!) and one of them is a bunk room with 5 beds (plus 2 trundles) which allows flexible sleeping arrangements. All beds are made up with Egyptian cotton sheets and towels. Three of the bedrooms have en suite bathrooms. It is therefore perfectly suited to family holidays with friends - 4 families can stay without feeling you are on top of each other.
When the sun is shining there are a variety of garden games, including table tennis, croquet, boule and tennis (racquets provided). For cozy winter evenings, there are four wood burning stoves and a range of board games.
The pool is fenced and a cot and high chair can be provided free of charge, on request.
There are various terraces for pre-dinner drinks and al fresco dining and a gas BBQ and BBQing equipment are provided.
Guest access
You will have full access to the house and grounds, including the swimming pool and newly laid tennis court (summer 2018).
Interaction with guests
You will usually be met at the house by our Property Manager, Victoria, who will hand over the keys and talk you through the house.

Booked La Gravouse for a family birthday milestone celebration and we were not disappointed. A beautiful looking house was a great first sign reached along a short laneway from a side road. One of the property manager team Alfie met up and showed us around the property. A large house with plenty of room for our party including two young children. A brilliant pool and associated facilities inc fridge, sink, shower and toilet in a separate covered area - and a wonderful pool. Weather was a crazy 33C plus every day so the pool was a godsend. At the other end of the house a brilliant external seating area, beside it a gas fired BBW, a Pizza Oven and what looked like a pressure vessel type cooker. We used the grill to do wonderful food throughout. A lovely long dining table immediately outside the house kitchen and covered with a Wisteria tree artfully trained as a canopy. Sara and Alfie were attentive property managers contacting us in advance about our preferred bedding arrangements and to give advice and assistance throughout our one week stay. The house truly is remote from others with extensive gardens and surrounding land and that itself is surrounded by vines. There's also a tennis court which some of us enjoyes too. Wifi was not too bad but always a good idea to have roaming on your phone. A nice room in the house as well to use as an office if needed. The surrounding countryside is stunning - all in all, highly, highly recommended.

We stayed in La Gravouse for a week in April. The house is beautiful, very convenient, the kitchen is well equiped and we cooked many dinners. The housekeeper was very accesible and helpful. The house is near many attractions of Bordeaux and Dordogne

My friends and I enjoyed a blissful week at La Gravouse. It is an exquisitely beautiful home with gorgeous decor, well appointed bathrooms, outdoor kitchen, pool, tennis court, and grounds. The dogs from the neighboring chateau accompanied us on our walk in the evenings. Chef Marc prepared a lovely meal for us upon our arrival- great suggestion from Sara, the property manager. She was immediately available for all of our questions. Thanks very much to Charles and Anna for making your home available for guests. It is a well loved place in a breathtakingly beautiful area. Don't miss the Brasserie du Boucher in Port Sainte Foy if you visit. Excellent meal.

La Gravouse was a perfect place to gather for our reunion. Lots of space inside and out for our active family and
with the house sitting amidst beautiful vineyards and countryside it was all the more appealing and relaxing. We enjoyed being conveniently located close to nearby little towns and made the rounds of a few markets when we felt like venturing away from the house. Every day one of us biked into town for fresh bread and croissants - what a great way to start the day!! We will be back.
