Our trip to the big island included some time near Hilo and the second half in Kona where we stayed at Makolea 23. Location first off was why we initially picked this and it was perfect. The walk to Kahalu’u beach was maybe 2 minutes and that alone made this part of the trip great. The apartment was clean, comfortable and quiet despite being so close to things. Definitely a do again next time we’re here. One thing but more of a Big island thing is make sure to keep your kitchen very clean. Lotsa tiny bugs if even a crumb is left somewhere. We even had some find their way into the dishwasher after not rinsing a plate good enough.

Great location, beautiful views and clean, comfortable accommodations. Everything we needed for my family. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub when we were not at the beach. Having access to air conditioning, beach gear, and laundry was a huge benefit. While quiet hours are posted, they were not followed by other residents during the weekend.

Couldn't find a cutting board. A little too dark in the kitchen/livingroom. Pool and hot tub were dirty.Loved the space and location and the art in the apartment was fabulous

Oven broken. Mentioned in several other reviews over the past year or so. Should have had plenty of time to repair or replace. Kitchen light and tile missing. Great location.
