VRBO owner Filomena Benevento's title should be the "ambassador" of historical city Tricarico! Filomena was gracious for having a late evening dinner with local goodies in the fridge due to our late arrival, to taking us on a tour of her city. Once she discovered we were wine producers from California on a research trip of Nebbiolo, Sangiovese and Aglianico in the Basilicata wine region, she arranged the meeting of local Cantina owners to view their vineyards and very historic cantinas. Our trip to Tricarico was a success compliments of Filomena and her knowledge of the area as well as her acquaintances. The 2-bedroom spacious accommodations were perfectly centered to view the historical city of Tricarico while enjoying to modernization of WIFI, parking, churches and nearby stores and restaurants. We look forward to returning to this hidden gem of a city and with Filomena's guidance and grace.

Our first time ever to visit Tricarico and to look for relatives. Our host Filomena not only welcomed us to her beautiful home, she even found our relatives before we arrived, and knowing that the Municipo would be closed during our visit she obtained a copy of the birth record for us. We happened to be visiting during Il Carnivale, so Filomena explained the customs, the parade and festival and she gave us a guided tour of the city with lots of photo opportunities. Truly the most personalized experience we've ever had with a vacation rental.
The apartment is spacious, very clean and has incredible views of Tricarico. There is also a garden space to use and parking right outside the door. Having the kitchen and a washing machine really added to our comfort. The home is very quiet at night and is located a 2 minute walk from a grocery store and a 10 minute walk from the center of Tricarico. When we left after our stay, we felt like we were leaving family. Filomena, and her lovely mother, are so friendly and welcoming. We can't wait to return for a much longer stay!
