About this house rental

Vacation at this secluded property offered by All Get Out Vacation Rentals!

Enjoy your own private beach with no other houses in sight. Open meadows, trees, river and stream -- this secluded yet accessible cabin has it all. Warm and welcoming three bedroom, 2 full baths, sun porch, open kitchen with modern appliances, gas grill, outdoor fire-pit, and fine furnishings throughout.

Listen to the sound of the babbling brook within 50 feet of the house while lounging in the sunroom or relaxing on the deck. In addition, the property has 27 acres of private beach access to the Shavers fork river. The house is engulfed in a narrow band of trees and surrounded by meadows and glades for walks (bring long pants and socks to explore). It is also situated just 1/4 mile upstream from the one-million acre Monongahela National Forest.

The house features natural wood-plank paneling and a well-appointed kitchen, Wi-Fi, television with satellite TV and DVD player, and a stereo/home theater system. The kitchen is open to the dining area, perfect for social cooking. The sunroom has seating for dining or board games with a full view of the stream so you can enjoy the outdoors even in inclement weather.

This cozy ground-level home sleeps 8 in beds. There is a MBR w/ Queen; BR #2 w/ Queen, BR #3 w/ two sets of Twin bunks, and Livingroom w/ Queen pull-out sofa.

For fall or early spring visits, the house features electric heat and a wood-stove (a modest amount of firewood is included in the rental fee). There is a window unit A/C in each of the three bedrooms and the living room, and ceiling fans in each of the queen bedrooms and the living room.

In winter months, be prepared for snowy and/or icy road conditions by driving a 4WD or suitable vehicle. It's advisable whenever driving in wintry conditions in the mountains of WV to be prepared with chains as the roads are often hazardous. At times the snow can be deep and it takes 24-48 hours before it is plowed, therefore you should be flexible about travel.

The cabin is remote, so even in clear weather its narrow mountain gravel road can be concerning to those not experienced. Depending on whether the road crew has done repairs recently, there may be potholes. In most cases you can drive around them, but there may be a few on the way that you’ll just need to slowly drive through. There are also no guardrails on the road, but it has several turnouts to allow cars to pass. The gravel is not suitable for street motorcycles, we've been told.

Please be aware of the close proximity of the stream to decide if the risk is too great for your toddlers or other children who might leave the house unsupervised. Our other Vrbo listing #317752 has a larger land buffer between the house and the moving water.

The river is about a 5 minute walk across the property from the house. There is absolutely no vehicular traffic allowed off the driveway.

Pet friendly, but only if arrangements are made and the pet fee is paid. Dogs only please, and no more than two dogs per reservation.

Owners provide a starter quantity of paper products, bathroom soap, and laundry/dish detergent. Personal toiletries are to be provided by Guests.

If you are looking for a remote mountain getaway and are willing to roll with what comes from a country vacation, you will be hard pressed to find a more beautiful spot!

Because the house is surrounded by forests, the creek, and the river, there is plenty of nature to enjoy but also to endure. Mice will occasionally come inside, and although we set hidden traps to keep them from settling in, there is a possibility that you will see them during your stay depending on whether they've found a food source recently (it could be from a prior guest -- not your own doing.) We do, however, check to make sure that the kitchen implements are sanitary at the beginning of your stay.

The bug situation is that we are at a high enough elevation to not have a mosquito problem, but there will be gnats in the field, and moths at night wanting to get into the house. There will also be plenty of dead bugs that wedge themselves between the screens and the windows.

If these aspects of nature are acceptable to you, then you will find a beautiful place of nature in which to relax and enjoy your vacation!

This was our first booking through Vrbo. Larisa was super responsive to all of our questions/concerns. The cabin was clean and perfect for our family vacation. This property has several spots to cast out your line and fish. We saw deer several times during our stay. This property is beautiful, quiet and a dog/kid paradise. Both of our kids, ages 16 and 5 loved the cabin. The bathrooms are super nice and the hot tub was great after a day of hiking.

We have stayed at this cabin 3 times now. Each time we have been very satisified with the accomodations. We would suggest a pair of kitchen shears/scissors, a couple more ice cube trays, and a rubber/silicone scraper in the kitchen. Replacing the blinds on windows to let more light in during stays, as many of the horizontal blinds do not twist open. This means the option is either blinds completely open pulled up to the top of the window or completely closed. Adding/replacing the window screens to allow opening of windows to allow that fresh mountain air in without letting bugs in would be a plus. All in all, the cabin is wonderfully in a quiet, serene setting and kept clean. The porch swing in front and the jacuzzi in back are perfect both morning and evenings. We had no need to contact management, as everything worked appropriately and we had no issues during our stay. The heated bathroom floors are a treat on cold mornings! The showers and beds are comfortable, and, the variety of options for pillows (firm, soft, fluffy, etc) was very nice. The kitchen is very comfortable to work in. Not many places give you a full bar of Dove soap in each bathroom, so that is a special touch we very much appreciated! The enclosed screened/windowed back porch is a treat in itself, very comfortable for reading while enjoying the sound of the creek out back, family games, or meals at the table. Our stay was very enjoyable, as always.

We had a great stay. Property is beautiful. Short walk over to the River. House was perfect. Everything we needed. We had a nice weekend away with our pups. They loved the freedom of being off leash, well one anyway. The gravel road out to the house isnt terrible. We arrived at night so it was worse than it looked but being that it was February and it still was covered in snow added a little more. I would suggest 4WD / AWD only but not really required. Just be smart and take it slow. What i wouldnt suggest doing is going to Bickle Observation Tower in February. Lol. The " road " going up is pretty harrowing to say the least when its mostly ice/ sludge. Overall i would love to return in the summer and get proper use out of the river. If we do return, this place will be our first choice.

A wonderful stay! The reviews are all spot on. Husband & Wife plus two dogs throughly enjoyed our stay. We spent Christmas through NYE here and the Cabin had everything we needed to enjoy a backwoods escape. We loved soaking in the hot tub after long chilly days of hiking and the pups loved the big yard to run around in. We visited the river twice, footbridge under water, but I can see how amazing that feature would be in the warm months. Suggestions for review readers: take serious note of the road concerns in the posting. Single lane mountain roads are not for the weak of heart. If you are willing to be cautiously brave, it’s absolutely worth it. Thank you for the clean, comfortable and gorgeous views! Highly recommend this cabin to anyone looking to stay. Cheers!
