About this cabin rental

Designed to embrace the rugged beauty of the mountains, Elkhead Cabin is the epitome of a rustic Colorado log cabin complete with a luxury hot tub, wood burning fireplace, and outdoor firepit! Large windows frame stunning snow capped mountain panoramic views, while warm wood log accents and natural stone create a cozy, grounded feel. Every detail, from the open-concept living spaces to the inviting outdoor patio, was crafted to offer both comfort and connection to nature. Whether it's a quiet morning watching the sunrise or an evening by the fire, this home is the ultimate mountain retreat.

Our spacious & secluded cabin sleeps 10 and is perfect for romantic getaways, as well as family gatherings. Located just 40 mins from Colorado Springs & 20 mins from Woodland Park, this owner managed, 3BR+Loft/3BA cabin is easily accessible, frequented by wildlife, and is surrounded by Ponderosa Pines and Aspens groves.

The Space: As you walk thru the front door, the smell of the natural wood interior greets you. Your eyes are immediately drawn upward to the tongue and groove cathedral ceilings and the bull Elk centered between the arched top windows, which allow endless amounts of natural light. The morning sunlight casts a warm golden glow on the post & beam log interior. The main level is constructed of solid wood logs and boasts an open concept living, dining, & kitchen area that flow seamlessly together.
After a day of adventures, cuddle up on the leather sofa and watch a movie on the smart TV or build a fire in the wood burning stone fireplace and watch the snow fall as you gaze out across the valley towards Pikes Peak. The dining area has seating for 7 and the well-stocked kitchen is conveniently laid out for cooking family meals with stainless steel appliances and a natural gas range. There’s a pantry, coat closet, and plenty of cabinet space for all of your goodies. Down the hall from the kitchen is a Queen bedroom with closet and attached bath with dual vanities, a 2 person jetted tub, and washer/dryer. Two sets of French doors open up from the dining/living area onto the large deck with patio seating and a propane grill.

As you ascend up the stairs from the main level living area, you arrive in the loft which has a spacious bedroom with King bed, closet, and attached full bathroom. Just outside of the bedroom, at the top of the stairs, is an open sitting area with a futon/couch and a spectacular view of 12,527’ Sentinel Point. The space is perfect for sipping hot coco and watching the morning sunrise or as a sleeping area for younger guests.

Back on the main level, a staircase leads down to the newly finished basement. There you will find a game room, an entertainment room, and a 3rd bedroom with attached bath along with walk-out access to your private luxury 7 person hot tub overlooking the valley below. Around the corner from the hot tub is an outdoor seating area with a gas firepit.

The Neighborhood: Pike National Forest & Mueller State Park are just a 5 min drive away which both offer numerous hiking trails, horseback riding, and beautiful scenery. The town of Divide is just a 10 min drive away and is perfect for grabbing quick supplies at the local grocery and a bite to eat. The historic mining & casino resort town of Cripple Creek is just 20 mins away, as well as Woodland Park. Both locations offer everything you would need including dining, entertainment, bars/breweries, and souvenir shopping. Other nearby attractions include the Florissant Fossil Beds, Manitou Cliff Dwellings, Cave of the Winds, Garden of the Gods, and the Colorado Wolf & Wildlife Center. World class fly fishing and white water rafting are both within an hour’s drive and the ski resorts of Breckenridge and Monarch Mountain are a 1.5-2 hr drive. There are endless ATV/UTV/mountain biking trails located nearby for all of you off-road enthusiast and the pull-thru driveway makes if convenient for towing a trailer.

As you leave Divide and head south on Hwy 67, the open meadows are often dotted with Elk herds grazing on the grasslands beneath Pikes Peak. Highway 67 is one of the most popular routes for Aspen viewing in the fall. The road soon begins winding upwards thru Aspen groves and Ponderosa Pines on both sides as you ascend towards the turn off into the secluded Rainbow Valley Community. You now leave the paved road and continue on well-maintained dirt roads another half of a mile as you ascend in elevation towards the cabin at 9500’. At this elevation, there’s no need for air conditioning. Just open up the windows and enjoy the cool mountain breeze or sit outside and enjoy the view from the partial wrap around deck. The cabin itself sits on a hillside facing East with direct views towards Pikes Peak and the western slopes of Pike Nat’l Forest. Mule deer, fox, turkeys, and the occasional bear are common visitors to the area since hunting and open fires are strictly prohibited.

We had a wonderful stay at this cabin! It's a classic cozy cabin with beautiful views. We were 3 couples staying for 3 nights, and we thoroughly enjoyed all the amenities- especially the hot tub and board games that kept us entertained. The cabin isn't too far of a drive from some good restaurants as well as some fun excursions (we went to Garden of the Gods one day). Blake was also a wonderful host and gave us lots of important info ahead of time, then checked on us a few times during and after our stay. The only thing that was a little funny was the configuration of the bedrooms and bathrooms. The bedroom on the top floor is connected to the loft, so there isn't a door and it's pretty much open to the main living space of the cabin. The main floor master bathroom also only has a jacuzzi, so we had to share one of the showers. It wasn't a big deal for us- just something to be aware of if you plan on staying here.

The property is gorgeous and the cabin is great! Amenities were top of the line! Only minor issue was sleeping accommodations for 11 people was tight- if there are all adults splitting the cost equally, then there should be enough beds per heads! No adult wants to sacrifice and sleep on air mattresses- great for children though! Would definitely stay again, but with less people!

5 stars is just not enough!! This cabin exceeded our expectations! When we first found it, it seemed almost too perfect, and we were skeptical since we were driving from Texas with a family of eight. However, Blake, the host, was amazing! He promptly answered all our questions and even some that we hadn’t thought of. The photos didn’t do this cabin justice; it’s breathtaking in person. The convenience of having everything we needed, from food storage containers and baking dishes to cast iron pans (which we needed for steak), was incredible. I could go on and on, but this would be an extremely long review. I highly recommend this place. It’s conveniently located in the middle of most attractions. It’s only a 1.5-hour drive from Frisco Adventure Park, a 40-minute drive from Garden of Gods, a 40-minute drive to Cog Railway, and a 20-minute drive from Ice Castle. If you’re visiting Colorado, this cabin will make your stay so much better.
