North of the noise and saturated color of the Quarter is a New Orleans neighborhood that’s perfected the art of living. “Welcome to Mid-City,” read the signs on the neutral ground. And that’s truth in advertising. It’s the kind of place where your auto mechanic invites you to a crawfish boil and a total stranger may buy you a drink at an Irish pub or a cannoli at an Italian bakery. Take the red streetcar line up Canal to the Cemeteries (Mid-City’s dead neighbors are as interesting as the live ones) or bike the new 2.6-mile-long Lafitte Greenway that stretches from Basin Street to Carrollton Avenue and, conveniently, past a po’ boy shop or two – or 17 – with a sno-ball shop and a micro-brewery thrown in for good measure. Buttermilk biscuits. Live music. A bowl of Vietnamese pho. Who wouldn’t want to visit? Eat. Drink. Get up here.

Mid-City puts you at the center of it all - close to the Canal Streetcar, City Park, and the Endymion parade route, yet tucked into a residential neighborhood where New Orleans life moves at its own easy pace. This four-bedroom home fits up to eight guests comfortably, with thoughtful touches throughout that make it just as suited to a long weekend festival trip as it is to a week-long family stay.
Sleeping arrangements
Four bedrooms, each dressed with plush beds, soft linens, and room-darkening shades for a proper night's rest. Clothing storage includes walk-in closets and additional closet space, and a Roku Smart TV in every room means no one has to fight over what to watch before bed. Up to eight guests sleep comfortably with ample space for everyone to spread out.
Kitchen & dining
The kitchen is the kind you actually want to cook in - fitted with a Frigidaire refrigerator, Frigidaire electric stove, Frigidaire single oven, microwave, and dishwasher. A coffee maker and coffee are ready for your mornings, and the full set of cooking basics, dishes, silverware, wine glasses, a toaster, and baking sheet means you can do everything from a big group breakfast to a proper dinner. Pull up to the dining table together, or prep a spread to take outside.
Living & workspace
The living area is easy to settle into after a day out in the city - central air conditioning, central heating, and ceiling fans keep things comfortable whatever the season. Fast Wi-Fi and a dedicated workspace with a door make this a practical base for remote work too, and an Ethernet connection is available for a more stable connection.
Outdoor living
Outside, a private patio and backyard with outdoor furniture and a BBQ grill give you a spot to gather, grill, and decompress. The shared pool is heated, open year-round, and available 24 hours - complete with pool toys and loungers for both kids and adults. Free driveway parking (one space) and additional free street parking take one more thing off your plate.
Family-friendly features
Families with young children are well catered for - a pack 'n play/travel crib with sheets and a folding high chair with padding, straps, and food tray are both available on request. Babysitter recommendations can also be arranged. In-unit washer and dryer, an iron, a safe, and a full supply of shampoo, conditioner, body soap, and shower gel make longer stays genuinely easy.

The Canal Streetcar is a five-minute walk away, connecting you straight into the city. The Endymion parade route is right on the doorstep for Mardi Gras season, and City Park, Frenchmen Street, Bourbon Street, the Lafitte Greenway bike path, and a nearby Trader Joe's are all within easy reach. Local cafés and po'boy shops are close by for when you want to eat like a local without going far.

I've stayed next door several times but needed a few extra rooms this time for several members of my staff in town for Louisiana Teacher Leader Summit. Michael came through with this at the last minute. They all loved the place. Check-in process need a little work, but overall, a great rental.

The house was beautiful with comfortable beds and in a central location to many activities. Unfortunately, we had safety concerns that we didn’t feel the host took seriously. Our check in time was 4pm but the host made an exception to allow us entry at 3. We arrived after three and still hadn’t received the code, so we waited on the stoop with our luggage while a houseless man urinated across the street from us. By 4pm we still had not received our code, so we called the host at 4:10 and only reached his voicemail. We called customer service at 4:21 who said they would reach out for us, and we finally received the code at 4:32.
Once we received the code, we realized the numbers on the lockbox were already set to the exact code that had been given to us. This was very disturbing as the last person at the house would have access if we chose to store a key in the box during our stay. We reached out to the host explaining our concerns and the response stated, “We have already provided the lockbox code to you yesterday if you want we can send it again.” And the same code was sent again. We did not feel heard as we wanted a new code to feel safe in the house.
In addition, the house was not fully stocked for six people to stay for eight nights as there were not enough coffee mugs, glasses, cooking utensils, T.P. or trash bags. Also, there was only one roll of paper towels and one bath towel per person. We found ourselves paying for Ubers to replenish the basics we needed.
