North of the noise and saturated color of the Quarter is a New Orleans neighborhood that’s perfected the art of living. “Welcome to Mid-City,” read the signs on the neutral ground. And that’s truth in advertising. It’s the kind of place where your auto mechanic invites you to a crawfish boil and a total stranger may buy you a drink at an Irish pub or a cannoli at an Italian bakery. Take the red streetcar line up Canal to the Cemeteries (Mid-City’s dead neighbors are as interesting as the live ones) or bike the new 2.6-mile-long Lafitte Greenway that stretches from Basin Street to Carrollton Avenue and, conveniently, past a po’ boy shop or two – or 17 – with a sno-ball shop and a micro-brewery thrown in for good measure. Buttermilk biscuits. Live music. A bowl of Vietnamese pho. Who wouldn’t want to visit? Eat. Drink. Get up here.

Mid-City puts you right in the current of New Orleans life - streetcars rattling past, the smell of chicory coffee drifting from corner cafés, and City Park spreading its oak-canopied arms just down the road. This four-bedroom home gives groups of up to eight a comfortable, well-equipped base to absorb it all, whether you're here for a festival, a family trip, or a long weekend with friends.
Sleeping arrangements
Four bedrooms sleep up to eight guests, each outfitted with plush beds, soft linens, and room-darkening shades for restful nights regardless of when the city quiets down. Ample clothing storage - including walk-in closets and standard closets - keeps everyone organized, and a Roku Smart TV in every room means no one has to fight over what to watch before bed.
Kitchen & dining
The kitchen is built for real cooking, with a Frigidaire refrigerator, Frigidaire electric stove, Frigidaire single oven, microwave, dishwasher, and coffee maker all on hand. Cooking basics, dishes and silverware, wine glasses, a toaster, and a baking sheet round out the setup, and coffee is provided to get your mornings started. Pull everyone together at the dining table for a home-cooked meal before heading out to explore.
Living & workspace
The living area is a natural gathering spot - settle in for a movie night or a quieter evening after a full day out. Fast Wi-Fi and a dedicated workspace with a door support anyone who needs to stay productive, and central air conditioning, central heating, and ceiling fans keep the home comfortable through every season.
Outdoor living
Step out to the private patio and backyard, furnished for outdoor lounging and casual meals off the BBQ grill. The shared pool is available all year, open 24 hours, heated, and stocked with pool toys and loungers - ideal for a lazy afternoon with kids or a late-night dip after a night out. Free driveway parking for one vehicle and free street parking take the stress out of getting around by car.
Bathroom
Three bathrooms cover the group comfortably, each supplied with shampoo, conditioner, body soap, shower gel, hair dryer, and hot water. A bathtub is available for a longer soak when the city pace calls for a proper wind-down.
Family-friendly features
Traveling with little ones is straightforward here. A pack 'n play/travel crib and a folding high chair are both available upon request, and babysitter recommendations can be arranged. In-unit washer and dryer, iron, and a full set of essentials - towels, bed sheets, soap, and toilet paper - make extended stays just as comfortable as shorter ones.

The Canal Streetcar stop is a five-minute walk away, connecting you directly into the French Quarter and beyond. The Endymion parade route runs close by, making this a natural fit for Mardi Gras. City Park, Trader Joe's, Bourbon Street, Frenchmen Street, and the Lafitte Greenway bike path are all within easy reach, and local cafés and po'boy shops fill in the gaps between bigger outings.

I've stayed next door several times but needed a few extra rooms this time for several members of my staff in town for Louisiana Teacher Leader Summit. Michael came through with this at the last minute. They all loved the place. Check-in process need a little work, but overall, a great rental.

The house was beautiful with comfortable beds and in a central location to many activities. Unfortunately, we had safety concerns that we didn’t feel the host took seriously. Our check in time was 4pm but the host made an exception to allow us entry at 3. We arrived after three and still hadn’t received the code, so we waited on the stoop with our luggage while a houseless man urinated across the street from us. By 4pm we still had not received our code, so we called the host at 4:10 and only reached his voicemail. We called customer service at 4:21 who said they would reach out for us, and we finally received the code at 4:32.
Once we received the code, we realized the numbers on the lockbox were already set to the exact code that had been given to us. This was very disturbing as the last person at the house would have access if we chose to store a key in the box during our stay. We reached out to the host explaining our concerns and the response stated, “We have already provided the lockbox code to you yesterday if you want we can send it again.” And the same code was sent again. We did not feel heard as we wanted a new code to feel safe in the house.
In addition, the house was not fully stocked for six people to stay for eight nights as there were not enough coffee mugs, glasses, cooking utensils, T.P. or trash bags. Also, there was only one roll of paper towels and one bath towel per person. We found ourselves paying for Ubers to replenish the basics we needed.
