Casa Sofia is a modern well appointed property that sits just below the crest of a hill. The views the southeast and south are absolutely stunning especially just after sunrise and approaching sunset. The mountains across the valley are lush and unspoiled. Photos really can’t do justice to the actual views from the property. The open concept living room, dining area and kitchen are good sized and four adults will not feel cramped. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking. If you are going to cook, we recommend the Walmart in Cartago for staples and the Saturday farmers market in Paraiso for fresh fruits and vegetables. The beds are very comfortable and there is plenty of storage space if you plan to stay for more than a few days. Onsite washer and dryer worked nicely for us. The owner, Vera, was on the property while we were there. She and her staff were extremely responsive to our communications - either in person or via messaging. We highly recommend a stay at Casa Sofia.

There will not be enough beautiful things to say about Casa Sofia. The location is incredible. Situated on a rural farm 5 minutes from a major city – yet the mountain views and quiet setting make it feel like you are far from the hustle. Vera, the property owner, is kind and friendly and check-in/check-out were easy and seamless. Her home is beautiful – well equipped kitchen and lovely bathroom with natural light in the shower. There are mountain views from every room in the house. The high ceilings make it feel even more open to the outdoors. We visited Cachi Dam and Irazú Volcano – both worth seeing. Tip: buy tickets on-line for Irazú Volcano. We stayed 5 nights and wish we had stayed longer. Thank you Vera for sharing your home. We hope to return.
