About this house rental
Enjoy this unique and tranquil getaway, where all you will hear is a cacophony of birdsong. Enjoy the 2 mile walking trail that meanders through the exquisite 60 acres of secluded woods and pristine prairie. Just a one minute walk away is a beautiful 1 acre pond with canoe. Overlooking a small, organic, sustainable hobby farm, it is located just 4 miles north of Fairfield Iowa, where Oprah visited and declared it to be "America's most unusual town". Your place to relax and recharge.
The property has an East entrance as does the house. You are first greeted with a view of the beautiful lotus pond which is in full bloom from June - August. The driveway takes you across the dam, around the garage and up the hill to the "cottage".
The cottage has an open layout for the living room, dining and kitchen. Hardwood floors throughout.
There are 3 bedrooms; the master with a queen bed and half bath, the second bedroom with another queen and the third bedroom has a double bed. The full bath is shared by all.
The brand new stackable washer and dryer works great, and the washer prefers less than more detergent.
Dine inside while watching deer and other wildlife through the six foot windows, or enjoy your morning coffee outside on the deck listening to the myriad of birds. We once had an ornithologist visit the property and she said she had never seen so many different types of birds in one location!
The kitchen has pretty much anything you need to make a decent meal, including blender, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, dishwasher, stove, refrigerator...
The living room has a smart TV, so please remember to bring your passwords for Netflix, Prime, Disney, Hulu... A small desk has a an ethernet cord for direct connection, and of course WIFI is available.
There is also a wood burning stove in the living room. This stove is actually a wood burning furnace which is extremely efficient and effective. Not really for casual fires or summertime use, it is intended as a heat source in fall and winter.
Outside there is a wooden sandbox with sand toys, and a very cool tree swing. In the back of the cottage is access to the 2 mile walking trail that meanders through forest and then opens onto an exquisite, private prairie. This property is really magnificent.

Great place to stay with our family. The sheets were wonderful cotton and not synthetic fiber like so many places have these days. The beds were very comfortable. The water pressure was great. AC was amazing and kept the house very comfortable in the near 100 degree humidity. Furniture was cozy. The kitchen was very well equipped for us to cook full family dinners. Location was close to everything but still tucked away in the country. The owners were very attentive to anything we contacted them about. Would definitely stay again.

Our second time staying at this property and won't be our last! Such a beautiful, serene and spacious home. Perfect place for rest and relaxation.

Pam and Wayne were friendly, accommodating hosts, their property is bucolic and the cottage was smartly styled and cozy. We didn't have tons of time to explore the surrounding scenery, but we did a lil romp in the woods, played Frisbee on the lawn, dug around in the sandbox and made use of a puzzle and children's books in the cupboard. The kitchen was well outfitted, beds comfortable and nights quiet. We'll definitely keep in mind next time we return to visit family.

Was at our granddaughters gradation and the stay was GREAT. We will stay there again when in the area. They were very helpful from arrival instructions to departure. Thank You!
