We stayed at the property at the end of September/beginning of October. We enjoyed ourselves very much, have no complains, house is incredible, we spent most of our time there siting on the beautiful lanai, house is very close to the beach, accessible through a fun, short forest walk and pathway, took us just a few minutes to get to the beach and maybe ten more minutes to get to Tunnels beach with amazing views and snorkeling. House was very clean, ready for us upon our arrival and we really appreciated all the beach equipment including chairs, snorkeling gear etc. house does not have an AC (that we knew) but is well equipped with fans and we did not feel the need for it. House feels secluded and private, no views of other houses. Chickens and roosters were fun to have around:).I can only recommend this property, we felt very happy to spent our vacation there, absolutely no regrets!! Mahalo!!

The house and location of the property were amazing! We just left and were having 90 days, the house was definitely pretty hot without air conditioning. Which was listed so we were aware although expecting cooler days this time of year! The house was fully stocked with anything you would need to cook full meals, all the beach towels you would need plus any kind of beach necessity! Tunnels Beach was just a short walk, which was amazing!!! Thank you for the stay!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have been to Kauai many times before and have stayed in this house on Haena Place many times. It is the perfect location on a quiet cul-de-sac in the back. The home itself is wonderful with 3 bedrooms and 3 full baths, a spacious living room and open kitchen area, and a huge covered lanai with ample furniture to relax, dine, or play games. The house is well-stocked, including the kitchen...everything you need is right there.The BEST thing is the private pathway from the house through the trees to the best beaches and views on the island! You can see the gorgeous sunrises and sunsets each day on the same beach, have great snorkeling inside the reef and find a spot under the trees on the beach if you prefer.Makana was very helpful in suggesting good activities to do. We went on the boat tour around the Napali in the morning and were delighted to go into actual caves. The views were breath-taking! We also attended a luau at Smith Family near Wailua that everyone enjoyed. We went tubing with Kauai back country adventures, and hiked the Kalalau trail to the falls. We bought Ono and Ahi to bbq at the fish market in Hanalei, had Shave ice at Wishing Well, shopped a little, and attended church on Sunday morning at the little green church. It was delightful to hear hymns we know sung in Hawaiian! We had our son, wife and 2 grandchildren with us to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. It was a most special vacation in every way! Hated to leave and definitely plan to come back again. This location and home are absolutely perfect!The girls at Makana are so nice and helpful. The day we arrived there had been a big rain storm the night before and the road was temporarily closed for several hours. They provided us another property to go to relax until the road re-opened. It was a good thing because we had already purchased groceries including many perishables that we were able to keep cold in the fridge. So nice and accommodating!!H

We loved our stay at Haena House and the close proximity to Tunnels Beach where we spent many days during our stay snorkeling, swimming, and beach combing. The property was exceptionally clean and the layout was perfect for our family of four adults. We had many meals on the spacious decks. The home also had beach chairs, towels, and umbrellas for use during our visits to the beach.Staying in Haena is a bit remote with Hanalei being our choice for most dinners (15 min drive). The magical Limahuli Botanical Garden is a short 5 minute drive and a must do. We did lose power twice for extended periods (once due to storm) so recognize that is a risk for a more remote location.

Our family absolutely loved this property! The quiet location on the North Shore, the easy beach access, and the awesome views were idyllic. The house was well stocked - with great kitchen tools, extra fans for the warm nights, and ample chairs/coolers/towels/etc. for the beach days. Easy checkin/checkout and great communication. Stayed here with my 2 young adult daughters. Beautiful, clean, spacious with a tropical feel. Very short walk to the beach through the path at the bottom of the stairs. Took the beach chairs to watch the sunrise with my morning coffee most mornings. Lush greenery surrounding, blocks view of other properties so it feels very private. Close to Tunnels Beach, Hā’ena State Park and Hanalei. We had an amazing time and would stay here again.

Excellent location, walking distance from one of the most beautiful and exclusive beaches in the world. We visited poipu beach and in our view it does not compare. The house itself is beautiful and well appointed. Management team is very responsive during the week. We will definitely be returning. Haena is a very special place.

It was perfect for everyone to have their own room and bathroom. The shared spaces of the living room, dining room, and deck (where we spent most of our time together) were comfortable & spacious. Even the centralized kitchen was easy to work in with multiple people! The best part was the feel of being in the jungle while hearing the waves and being able to walk a short way down to the beach! We also soon found out it was one of the best beaches so we didn’t feel like we really had to go to another one. We would definitely recommend this property!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house was very comfortable, both inside and out on the lanai (which kept us dry despite multiple downpours). The kitchen was remarkedly well equipped making eating in a breeze, especially when we could only get into Bar Acuda for amazing tapas only once during our stay. Hanging out (or in) was definitely a pleasant option. The most important charm was location. The morning walk to Tunnels Beach took us 7 minutes (one way). Our afternoon walk to the closest beach took 3 minutes. Clearly, if you forgot something it was no big deal return home to fetch it. And high tide at the local beach featured 7 or 8 turtles feeding on the reef. Can one get tired of seeing sea turtles? Perhaps, but we assuredly did not. Speaking of green things, I have a particular fondness for geckos and the green (with red spots) geckos at the house were another treat! Finally, the sunsets were memorable. Would we book again? YES!!!!!!!

We stayed 5 nights at this wonderful house and it was marvelous. The house was spotless. Fully functional kitchen. Comfortable beds. We couldn't have asked for a better place. Bathrooms were spacious and fully stocked with the basics (shampoo, conditioner, soap). Fresh towels (both bath and beach) when we arrived. The location is only steps away from the beach and the downstairs closet is full of anything you and your family would need for a beach day. Chairs. Umbrellas. Coolers. Snorkel gear. And most importantly, a wagon to tote it all. The lanai is very spacious and we enjoyed many meals out there. BBQ worked great, too. Working with the management company was very easy. Lots of emails leading up to our stay, and they were very responsive to any questions we emailed them. We were sad to leave, but will definitely look for this place again if we return to the north shore. Thank you for helping make our vacation amazing.

We loved this home. We have been to Hanalei a few times and thoroughly enjoyed this location. The home is maintained like a residence (rather than a rental). The beds were comfortable, the kitchen well stocked and the beach towels, chairs and accessories were all of high quality and well thought out.

The home is just wonderful with space for 3 couples to all have enough room to vacation comfortably. The porch is amazing - we ate all of our meals out there and could hardly see any evidence of other homes. You can see a bit of surf and can definitely hear it. The little jungle path to the beach is easy enough to take your coffee out to sit oceanside. The beautiful beaches close by aren't crowded and the water is swimmable. We loved being near the end of the road in Haena - it felt very special. Getting into small Hanalei is easy enough. We drove to the south island to do a snorkling tour and to see the Grand Canyon in one day which was great - but glad we stayed on the North end.

We loved our stay at Makana. The communication with the management team and their service was top notch! They were so helpful in any request/questions we had. The location was perfect for us, it’s isolated and more rural which is exactly what we were looking for. The home had everything we needed and was very clean upon arrival! They had extra of everything which came in handy with two little kids!

We absolutely loved our stay in Haena ! The house is amazing and has great spaces to hang out together— the kitchen, the family room and the awesome porch where we had coffee every morning!) The location of the house is perfect! Snorkeling at beautiful Tunnels Beach was our absolute favorite and it was so easy and quick to walk there on the jungle path. Haena State Park is less than 10 min away and we spent two days there ( hiking and Ke’e beach). We also made quick trips in to Hanalei for shave ice at Wishing Well! We hope to come back and stay again soon!

Beautiful property and wonderful location to get away from it all. House had some minor issues, some of which were repaired, some not. Biggest issue was a partially clogged drain in second bedroom bath. It was repaired promptly. Several lights in house and in carport were inoperable. Some were repaired or replaced prior to our departure, some not. Remaining issues, not reported to management prior to departure, were partially clogged drain in right sink in master bath and missing window screen on lower vent on entrance porch. Challenge in finding places to eat out that served vegan or vegetarian faire. Overall, a wonderful stay in a fantastic house! Looking forward ro visiting again!

My family and I could not have had a better experience in Haena. The home was beautiful and well kept. Rooms were comfortable (bathrooms for everyone was awesome). Open concept living space was great and the large outdoor spaces were as good as it gets. With ocean views and mountain views with basically the most privacy out of any of the neighbors I don't know how it could be a better location. Either a short walk on the road to Tunnels (literally the most beautiful beach I've ever seen) or an even shorter walk through the beach jungle trail. You are paying a premium for this property but it was 100% worth it for what you get, a truly incredible experience in the most beautiful place we have all ever been.

We really enjoyed our stay. The house has everything you need for a great vacation. It was perfect for two couples. The kitchen was well stocked and the beach gear was great. The jungle setting with views to the ocean could not have been better. Although there was no AC, we were never too hot especially at night when the breeze and sound of the ocean waves lulled us to sleep. It's a quick walk through a jungle path to enjoy one of the best beaches in the world, Tunnels, which would have been a lot harder to access otherwise. Even when it rains, this house is great as the covered patio provides a great way to still enjoy the outdoors while staying dry. You feel like you are on the edge of the earth with most modern comforts only a short drive away. We would definitely stay again.

Had a great time staying in this property and would stay again! It was very clean upon arrival and was well appointed with plenty of dishes, appliances, and beach towels. We appreciated the quick walk through the backyard path to the beach, especially for watching sunrise and sunset! Tunnels beach was a quick walk down the beach which was fun and then we didn’t have to deal with parking which was a major plus. We enjoyed the beach gear that was available with the property including snorkel gear, chairs and an umbrella. As others have mentioned the roosters were up and crowing early in the morning but we were prepared with ear plugs and it didn’t bother us. There were some mosquitos the first night as it had rained all day but we didn’t notice them any of our other nights and it was very pleasant to sit on the porch and drink coffee in the morning.
