About this house rental
Built in 1817 this is one of the oldest estates in Maryland. It has old slave quarters on the property and an 8 hole outhouse along with a summer kitchen that was used for cooking. (both being renovated) It has 7 fireplaces and a great room with bar. A large music room with a circa 1850 box piano. My wife and i were married here last year with over 100 guests. We wish the walls could talk!! month of Sept and August, book a week-end and you can have thursday or sunday free, 2026 only. i can accomodate getting you a pig and slaughter if you want to do a pig roast, you pay, i pick up. if you have a beer brewmaster local we can also do a beer for your event.

This is such a cool place with all the historical elements, not to mention the historic property itself.The house was clean and tidy, we had all the amenities we needed and Mike is an amazing host who was very responsive, communicative and a wealth of knowledge.If you enjoy old buildings/houses and history and happen to need to stay in or near Taneytown, make it your destination. You won't regret it

We loved the house and the property. The property host is very nice and easy to communicate with. The house is clean and very charming. The bedrooms are VERY big so lots of space to move around in and spread out. The beds are comfortable. We used the house to host our son’s groomsmen and then to have an after-wedding brunch. Everyone that came to the house loved it and enjoyed exploring it and the property. There’s a a summer kitchen behind the house that the host allowed us to use which was really handy. The host also has cows that he keeps in his barn and our friends were allowed to go up and say hi to :) We had a wonderful week here and we can’t say enough nice things about the house, the property and the kindness of the host.
