About this house rental
Welcome to Little Cedar Lodge, a peaceful lakefront retreat tucked among the trees overlooking a beautiful 125-acre private lake in Elizabeth, Indiana.
Here, you can enjoy the feeling of being miles away from everything—surrounded by woods, water and abundant wildlife—while being only 20 minutes from downtown Louisville and approximately 15 minutes from New Albany and historic Corydon.
Little Cedar Lodge is a wonderful choice for families, couples, friends and groups looking for a quiet place to reconnect, relax and enjoy nature without giving up convenient access to Louisville and Southern Indiana.
Pets are allowed, $15 per night extra charge, must be on a leash at all times when outdoors, must be crated if left unattended, not allowed on furniture, must be potty trained. Clean up after your pet and place it in the lined trash can under the deck (plastic bags can be found in the closet under the stairs). Trash pick-up days are Wednesdays.
Basic rates include up to two persons. There is an extra $15 charge per person over two per night.
The Cabin
Little Cedar Lodge is a 1,300-square-foot modified A-frame with an open, warm and inviting cabin atmosphere.
The main living area combines the kitchen, dining area and living room into one large open space, making it easy for everyone to spend time together. The soaring vaulted ceiling and stained wood beadboard covering much of the walls and ceiling give the home the character and warmth you'd expect from a true lake cabin.
An electric fireplace insert provides the cozy appearance and ambiance of a fire without the work of tending a traditional fireplace.
When it's time to relax indoors, settle into the living room and enjoy the Smart TV with YouTube TV and Netflix provided. We have also provided a slew of games and cards, and poker chips.
Sleeps Up to 10
Little Cedar Lodge comfortably accommodates groups of up to 10 guests.
There are two good-sized private bedrooms, each furnished with a queen bed.
Upstairs, the open loft provides additional sleeping space with three full-size beds and one twin bed. The loft is especially fun for children, teenagers and groups traveling together.
The cabin also has two full bathrooms, making mornings and evenings much easier when traveling with a larger group.
Fully Stocked Kitchen
Our kitchen is set up for guests who want the option of preparing real meals during their stay—not simply reheating takeout.
The fully stocked kitchen provides what you need for everything from a quick breakfast before heading into Louisville to preparing a full family dinner.
Because the kitchen, dining area and living room share one large open space, the person doing the cooking can still be part of the conversation and activities happening throughout the main room.
The Screened Porch — A Guest Favorite
If there's one place where guests tend to spend the most time at Little Cedar Lodge, it's our large screened-in porch stretching across the entire front of the cabin.
The porch overlooks the lake and is large enough to accommodate a picnic table, a round table with seating for six, and a hanging swing approximately the size of a twin bed.
It's the perfect place to start the morning with coffee, enjoy breakfast overlooking the water, read a book, play cards, share dinner, or stretch out on the hanging swing and do absolutely nothing.
Because the one-acre property slopes down toward the lake and approximately half of the lot is wooded, the elevated porch gives you the wonderful sensation of sitting among the trees while looking out over the water.
For many of our guests, the screened porch becomes their favorite "room" in the house.
Wildlife Outside Your Door
Little Cedar Lodge is an especially enjoyable destination for nature and wildlife lovers.
From the cabin and screened porch, keep your eyes open for the many animals that call the lake and surrounding woods home.
Depending on the season and a little luck, you may see bald eagles, osprey, geese, herons, ducks, beavers, deer, wild turkey, squirrels, hummingbirds and many other species of birds.
Sometimes the best entertainment at Little Cedar Lodge doesn't require a television—just a comfortable chair and a little patience.
A Truly Peaceful Private Lake
One of the most unusual features of Little Cedar Lodge is just how peaceful the lake remains.
This is a private 125-acre lake with strict boating restrictions. Pontoon boat motors cannot exceed 10 HP and fishing boat motors cannot exceed 2 HP. Speedboats and jet skis are not permitted.
As a result, you won't experience the constant noise, wakes and high-speed boat traffic common on larger recreational lakes.
Instead, the water provides a beautiful and tranquil backdrop for your stay.
Important Lake-Use Information
Because this is a private lake governed by a homeowners/lake association, lake access is restricted to property owners. Unfortunately, rental guests are not permitted to swim, fish, boat, kayak, paddleboard or otherwise use the lake.
We want guests to understand this before booking so there are no surprises.
While guests cannot enter or recreationally use the lake, it remains one of the best parts of staying at Little Cedar Lodge—the peaceful water views, wildlife and quiet atmosphere are available to enjoy throughout your stay.
Secluded — But Surprisingly Close to Everything
Little Cedar Lodge gives you the rare combination of a remote, secluded atmosphere with convenient access to the city.
You can wake up surrounded by trees and wildlife and still be in downtown Louisville in approximately 20 minutes.
New Albany and Corydon are each approximately 15 minutes away, giving you convenient access to restaurants, shopping, groceries and local attractions.
Spend the day exploring Louisville and return in the evening to the quiet of the lake—or simply stay at the cabin and enjoy having nowhere you need to be.
Plenty of Parking
The property has a large parking area with room for several vehicles, making Little Cedar Lodge especially convenient for families and groups arriving separately.
Come Slow Down at Little Cedar Lodge
Little Cedar Lodge isn't about high-speed lake activities or crowded resort amenities.
It's about something simpler.
It's morning coffee on a screened porch overlooking the water. It's watching a bald eagle cross the lake or spotting deer moving through the trees. It's family dinners around the table, evenings by the fireplace, conversations on the porch and falling asleep surrounded by the quiet of the woods.
And when you're ready for restaurants, entertainment and everything Louisville has to offer, downtown is only about 20 minutes away.
Secluded enough to feel like you've gotten away from it all. Close enough that you haven't.
In order to protect the privacy of our neighbors, if you are a loud and/or rowdy group you might be best served to find another place. Family gatherings and such are ok, but no parties with a lot of booze please.
Welcome to Little Cedar Lodge.
