Heron Point was designed from the ground up to be the best vacation rental on Smith Mountain Lake in terms of luxury, entertainment and architectural beauty. With a timber frame structure created by the artisans of Floyd, VA and carpentry by the German Baptist craftsmen of Rocky Mount, this home is destined to be a Smith Mountain Lake landmark.

Heron Point is a rare flat, three acre peninsula with a timber frame lodge home in a park-like setting and commands sweeping 180+ degree water views. Standing on the front deck, you won't be able to see where the water ends on either side. The shoreline is over 600 feet long and faces west so be prepared for some amazing sunsets over the lake. The house was built for large groups and boasts several large seating areas where everyone can congregate and socialize, including the great room, front deck, home theater and dock.

Docks & Waterfront

Of course, it wouldn't be a perfect lake vacation without great waterfront amenities. The dock has a floater attached to a larger fixed portion along with plenty of seating and table space for your group. It also features a roll-up bar area for entertaining, with a full-sized 14.3 cu ft top freezer fridge inside as well as several GFCI electrical outlets for charging devices (or maybe hooking up a drink blender). A 55" outdoor 4K TV let you stream your favorite shows at the dock! Ceiling fans are provided to keep you cool as you relax and enjoy the waterside views.

The floater provides an awesome swimming platform and with built-in bumpers on two sides is also a great place to tie up water craft. Three canoes and four kayaks are provided for renter use.

Although the house is on a peninsula, the main dock is located within a cove and protected from the direct flow of water traffic allowing for stress free swimming and floating. Directly alongside the main dock is a sandy beach area for the kids with access to the water via natural stone steps. Given its location off Craddock and Hatcher Creeks, expect clear water and access to some great marinas and waterfront restaurants.

Nighttime Entertainment

Because the sun must set at some point, we've included an unparalleled array of nighttime activities. The centerpiece is Heron Point Theater. This custom-built premium home theater boasts a 120-inch screen, 4K projector and three rows of tiered seating on luxury leather chairs. The two front rows feature ten powered reclining chairs with lighted cup holders and removable tray tables. The bar seating on the back row allows for more casual viewing, maybe while enjoying a tray of snacks. An assortment of over 60 Blu-ray movies is provided along with many streaming options. The premium sound system, 4K projector and customizable colored lighting will blow you away.

Just outside of the theater is a snack bar with a wet sink, microwave, drink blender, dedicated 25 pound Whirlpool Gold ice maker, beverage/wine cooler and a Fisher Paykel drawer dishwasher.

The Heron Point Game Room sports two TVs, each connected to a PlayStation 5 and XBox Series X, along with an exciting selection of video games. Also featured is a premium Foosball table, shuffleboard table and Mahogany/Slate pool table. In addition there is a video game cocktail table with classics such as Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, Space Invaders and over 1000 others. For music while you're playing, the room has an Alexa-enabled jukebox with color changing lights. Seating includes six bar stools and three bean bag chairs. So be prepared for fun!

Sleeping Accommodations

5,000 square feet of living space is designed to maximize its usability and your comfort. The house has a sleeping capacity of 16 people and has numerous sleeping configurations depending on the makeup of your party. Two of the rooms can either be used as common areas by day and bedrooms by night (or common areas full time, your choice!). On the lower floor there are two bunk rooms with two twin over full bunk beds each (4 twin + 4 full total), perfect for the younger people in your group or if you just need sleeping space. The lower floor also has a corner suite with lake views from both sides and both a shower and Jacuzzi tub. The suite also has access to a private patio area with two Adirondack chairs.

The main floor provides step free access from the driveway to both a king bedroom suite and queen Murphy bed room. These two rooms have direct access to a large luxury handicap accessible bathroom, including a curb free shower with grab bar and two roll under sinks. The bathroom also has a two person Jacuzzi tub looking out over the lake and has water jets, air jets and Chroma therapy lighting. The doors to the bathroom can be configured to allow for either the king bedroom or the Murphy bed room to be used as a suite or for the two to share the bathroom between them.

The two suites on the upper level have queen beds positioned under and between two skylights. You can lie in bed and look up at the stars! These bedrooms also have amazing water views from the skylights and the other large windows. The upper level also has a central bedroom with three twin built-in beds. By use of a four pocket door set this room can be fully enclosed. While lounging in the loft beds the glass railings allow you to take in the views from the lake. One of the suite bathrooms can be shared with the loft bedroom if desired by leaving open the outer of the two doors to the suite bedroom.

Throughout the home, hotel style bathrooms and luxury rain shower heads show that this is no ordinary rental accommodation.

Other Features

Yet another unique feature of this property is that it has its own boat ramp so no need to pay additional boat ramp fees! Please note that it is a gravel ramp with a gentle slope and if you need a more substantial boat ramp, there is a marina a 5 min drive away.

Also, don't spoil the surprise for the kids but the house has a secret small playroom hidden behind a bookcase! We've been happy to receive many compliments on this unique feature.
