About this house rental
This 3- bedroom cottage duplex is right on the beach. I don't mean just close to the beach. I mean that when you step down from the deck, you are on the beach. Walk barefoot to the water.
THIS GORGEOUS BEACH DUPLEX IS PET-FRIENDLY - AND IN BEAUTIFUL SHAPE. You will not believe such a beautiful house allows your pet, but we find that our guests at A Breath of Fresh Aire have been very conscientious about their four legged family members.
NOW MY WIFE SAYS I TALK TOO MUCH. She told me to shut up and let our guests tell the story. So here they go:
'Our family can't wait until July this year - we have stayed at Amazing Grace for the last three years - this year we will stay at Breath of Fresh Air - A wonderful ocean-front duplex - very nice and owner is a delight to deal with. A great deal here at Topsail!!!'

'Our humans brought us to watch them unwind at this wonderful house on the beach. We got long walks on the water's edge and saw turtle nests and lots of crabs and dolphins. We also got peaceful naps to the sound of the surf. We had such a good time watching our humans uncoil and become fun companions that we did not want it to end. Thanks for making us feel like puppies again.'

Imagine shrimp on the grill (on the driveway as per Fire Marshall rules), kids on the beach, and a cold beverage in your hand as you sit on the deck above the dunes. The wide beach invites you to stay all day long.
A Breath of Fresh Aire is BEACH FRONT. It is not a piano lot, or a view between two houses, or in a condominium complex. It is a real OCEANFRONT house. Sit on the beach or sit on a marvelous deck just a few feet away from the crashing waves.
Do you like to bike or run? There is a bike shoulder on the main road the entire way from the north to south. The island is like 22 miles long, so you can get a good work out.
You can even bike for fun (like I do). Recently I rode my bike to the south end, and the smell of Jasmin and ocean air was unbelievable. I stopped on the far south point of the island and walked around the beach on the undeveloped point. I then rode back to Topsail Beach city hall and said hi to the ladies who worked there. (They had kindly sent me an invitation to pay real estate tax in their city even though my house is not in their city. I graciously declined :-) but they were very pleasant!) I then rode back to Surf City and promptly bought an ice cream cone at DQ just to make sure I hadn't burnt off too many calories, then leisurely rode back to the beach house.
Believe me, this place is fun.
And I haven't even told you about Giligan's, just before the bridge on the mainland side and it's hilarious karaoke nights, or about Sears Landing and its award winning clam chowder made with sherry, or Indigo Marsh - the best restaurant overlooking the sound that you will ever find. Oh, and how about the fresh fish market (I mean right off the boat) behind the Crab Pot where you can get shrimp, flounder, shark or whatever they have been catching and take it back and grill it.
Or you can play 18 holes at Coastal Carolina's only four-star golf course, North Shore Golf and Ocean Club (as per Golf Digest). Perhaps you would like to deep sea or surf fish...or maybe spend an hour with your son or daughter fishing off the sound dock just steps from your beachfront villa. And did we mention riding jet skis on the nearby sound?

If you want a beach house that is literally on the beach this is the house for you! Walk right off the gated porch and into the sand. We have a small dog so the gates were a huge plus not to have to worry about her getting out! She loves the beach as much as we do. We only used the king bed and it is very comfortable! Not to firm & not too soft. No, I'm not Goldilocks but as folks with back issues It is always a concern. You will have everything you need in the unit. The kitchen is nicely stocked. Steve, the owner, was easy & helpful when communicating. I contacted him twice about restaurant recommendations and an issue with the TV and both times he responded quickly. Also, there is a walkway across the street that gives you access to the Sound!! The only criticism I might have was the carpet could stand a cleaning. Some stains but no odor and I did not feel grossed out like in some hotel rooms. I would definitely stay here again!

We love staying here. The beach literally comes to your house. That deck, upper and lower is fabulous. Walking on the beach every day is amazing. The house is cozy, spacious and has a full kitchen plus dining table. Location is perfect. We love it and we will be back.

Maintenance was not quite up to snuff; e.g. - microwave door was cracked, refrigerator door handle was loose, bedroom sliding door handle was loose, fist size hole in a bedroom screen, curtain rods rusty, light bulbs missing or nonfunctional, one ceiling fan inoperative.
