"LE SESAME" charming gite near Colmar

We had a very comfortable stay at Le Sesame - the property was beautiful, modern, clean and really well-equipped, especially in the kitchen. Our host was friendly and welcoming, and was available online to answer any questions. The location suited us well, with on-site parking and convenient to travel to the lovely villages in the region, as well as hopping over to Germany too.

Have stayed in many holiday rentals in Europe, The Sesame is one of the best. Spotlessly clean, very well equipped and decorated. Our host Jacques was amazing- loved the wine and homemade bread. Great location for touring the area. Highly recommended.

We wanted a quiet 3 month getaway in a small, rural French village close to a larger town and needed 2 bedrooms so friends/family could stay for short periods. We saw reviews saying "Le Sesame" was exactly like the pictures (and it was). On arrival, our hosts greeted us with wine and bread which we promptly sat down and enjoyed with them. The accommodation was exactly what we'd wanted. We quickly realised how close things were, including beautiful Colmar and the amazing vineyard covered, gingerbread house villages dotted around it. We bought 2nd hand bikes (our primary means of transport) and enjoyed riding along the canals so close to us. We also took the local bus often. It's not a frequent service but it terminates at Colmar train station, is inexpensive, and so convenient given your bus stop is <100m from your front door. From Colmar train station, we travelled to other French cities (Strasbourg is a must), Germany and Switzerland. Host Vincent bakes and sells bread onsite Wednesdays and Fridays (oh, that wonderful smell). We had some very minor issues while living there but Vincent responded very quickly to those, so we were never inconvenienced. We want to thank our hosts for being so welcoming, helpful and friendly towards us during the 3 months we lived there. We can highly recommend "Le Sesame" and the Alsace region to those seeking respite from the more touristy French areas.

We were charmed by the Ley family as perfect hosts bringing us homemade breads and suggestions for excursions. The place was immaculate with well equipped kitchen and well designed large bathroom. Really appreciated to small water closet by the bedrooms. Located in a small village just 10 minutes away from Colmar. Central location makes it easy to drive to all the pretty towns in central Alsace. Thanks Vincent.
