Whitfield Hideaway

I have stayed several years and it is always a great place to stay.

Our stay was amazing! Very clean, decorations were spot on. We loved the jam that was made by Jeanie, so much so I bought 4 more. We wished we could have stayed longer but had to get home. Close enough to town and attractions but secluded enough to still feel like you are alone. Thank you for the restful stay, hope to do it again soon!

The house is stocked with all the things you need to cook and live in. So nice for a change! Plus lots of extras too. The view is much better before the leaves come on, but still not bad mid summer. And the deck is very comfortable to sit on with the ceiling fan! Only wish it had a table under the cover for eating outside and sitting things on. We intended to use the fire table, but never did. Would be great if that was off to the side AND the deck had a table. Beds are all comfy and house is decorated cute. The only issue we had was we couldn't set the house AC below 68 degrees. It was too warm several nights to leave the windows open. I messaged the host, they thought it should go down. But never helped us beyond that.But, we would still rent it again!

While the property is located in the mountains, there is not really a mountain view in the summertime. The yard area is very limited, so if you are traveling with children, please be aware that there is not much outdoor space for them to play. Additionally, the trees and vegetation around the front of the property appeared to contain LOTS of poison ivy and poison oak. The trailer itself is nice and generally well-equipped. We did not cook during our stay, but the kitchen appeared to have everything needed to prepare meals. There was even a jar of jelly provided for guests. However, the property could benefit from a more thorough dusting in most areas. One aspect that made us uncomfortable was the extensive security system. There were sensors throughout the property and multiple cameras. While I understand the need for security and do not object to exterior cameras, the amount of monitoring made me feel somewhat uneasy. We left early one morning and followed the instructions provided for setting the alarm. Shortly afterward, I received a text message from the owner stating that the alarm had not been set correctly. She explained that she noticed the door had been opened around 6:21 a.m. and because there had been no further activity, she manually armed the alarm herself. She said this was done to protect both her belongings and ours. While I appreciate the concern, knowing that our activity was being monitored so closely raised concerns about privacy and safety.
