Bear Rest is nestled in Leatherwood Mountains Resort, a gated community offering horseback riding, dining, tubing, biking, fly fishing, weddings, reunions, and more. Enjoy sweeping Blue Ridge views from the spacious deck while grilling or relaxing in the large hot tub.
Inside, the open floor plan keeps everyone connected—cook, relax by the fireplace, or shoot pool all in one inviting space. The main level features a master bedroom with deck and hot tub access, while the other bedrooms are upstairs, both with private baths.
Need to work while away? The loft includes a dedicated home office with Wi-Fi and desk space. The basement offers extra room to unwind with a ping-pong table and seating area. Bear Rest blends relaxation, recreation, and comfort in a true mountain getaway.

This home is located in the 4000 acre, Leatherwood Mountain Resort in Ferguson, NC. Our guests are invited to enjoy our Horseback Riding program where you can experience the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains pristine wilderness by Horseback (reservation required). You will have access to miles of hiking trails, mountain streams, stocked fishing pond, community swimming pool, play ground and tennis courts, creek tubing (seasonal), on-site restaurant with active live music & event calendar (guest advised to check hours when planning meals).
Leatherwood Mountains has surveillance or recording devices on the property. Our neighborhood is very safe and our property very secluded. For added peace of mind, we have security cameras by the gated entrance and common areas. Individual properties may also have cameras on the EXTERIOR of homes. Please be assured they are not directed at private areas, hot tub porches etc.

This property is absolutely perfect. I wanted a spacious, yet cozy cabin with a great view - I wanted to feel immersed in the mountains and Bear Rest definitely fulfilled that! There were 5 of us and we had PLENTY of space. The beds were comfy and the cabin was clean. Check in couldn't be easier, either. I would definitely stay here again.

This was the perfect mountain stay- gorgeous view, hottub, fireplace, hammock, porch swing, pool table, ping pong.. there was something to do for the entire family! We also took the kids down to the playground and the to play in the creek. They loved it! We will definitely be returning.

The location of the cabin is great. The management is great but the owner needs to takes some steps before we come back. We have stayed at several cabins in leatherwood and this was our lease favorite. Towels were discolored and frayed. No icemaker and no warning and ice is not easy to get to. The kitchen a disaster. Needs clean out and organizing. Stuff just thrown in drawers. several light bulbs out (including over dining talbe). minimal storage in the master for hanging as the full closet is locked. Note on fridge beware of loose panel? no idea where it was located. Yard a mess. Not cut when we arrived, over grown driveway and the back not cut back at all. small blood stains on the master bed mattress cover we discovered when removed the sheets when we left. Minimal laundry detergent which would not be a problem, but we are required to start the laundry and we did most of it before we left. The cabin was clean and plenty of room and the amenities are great but the above items show to me the owners are not allowing for upkeep. The management of leatherwood is amazing and as I said we have visited most year two times except for covid time and all the other cabins we have stayed in have been amazing. Thank you to Sue for her continued professional demeanor. You are the best!
