Alte Druckerei: Even though the machines are no longer in place today at the former Otto Freund printing plant at Poststraße 3, this location remains a home for the fine art of printmaking. These qualities, which have endured from the
printing business, are reflected in the apartments at the Old Printing House. We chose the names of the apartments in reference to the
art of printing. We, sisters Othild Hesse and Claudia Heise,
decided, following the death of our parents and the closure of the Otto Freund printing shop—which had been in operation for 145 years
—to give our childhood home a
new lease on life. For us, the name of the new residential and
commercial building was quickly decided: Alte Druckerei. At the end of October 2019, demolition of the aging building began, which brought back many memories of our childhood. Step by step, the new residential and commercial building named “Alte Druckerei” took shape. Our new vacation apartments, built with an eye for
detail, are centrally located on the island with
views of the pedestrian zone and the Norderney skyline. The building features
triple-glazed windows, so you can enjoy your vacation in peace. The
elevator takes you comfortably to the upper floors. Restaurants, cafes, and
shopping are right at your doorstep. The spa square, spa theater, and
Conversationshaus with its diverse cultural offerings, the thalassotherapy center,
Weststrand, and the beach promenade are all just a few minutes away. Want to explore the eastern part of the island on an
e-bike? Bike rentals are located right nearby.
