We have just returned from a 5 night stay at Downsview, what a wonderful beachside cottage.the house is spacious and comfortable with amazing views across the beach and the channel.the large family room/kitchen was perfect for our family visit and we were provided with everything we could need for a comfortable stay. The beds were so comfortable but our favourite spot was the glass balcony looking out across the channel. We ate at both local pubs,The Zetland Arms and The Rising Sun,the food was great at both venues and I thoroughly recommend them, breakfasts at The Goose on the Green and The Pier Kitchen were also amazing. We will definitely be returning to Downsview,it was perfect for our family holiday.

Keepers Cottages provides an excellent service. We stayed at Downsview in Walmer for a long weekend and the property description was clear and accurate for this most comfortable of family houses that is situated right on the beach with fabulous views across the Channel to France. The large, beautifully equipped modern kitchen is superb and provides a central focal point for daily living, family meals and access to a lovely garden with BBQ for outdoor living. We were blessed with warm sunshine and dry weather for the whole time we were there that added to our enjoyment. The coastal path is right outside providing easy walking or cycling into Deal in one direction (passing Walmer Castle) or towards Kingsdown (and the excellent Zeatand Arms gastro pub) and beyond in the other. We could not have had a more enjoyable stay.

Lovely place, great location, beach and garden and space in house are fantastic, needs a little tlc, some aspects like sofa, and armchairs need refurbishing or renewing, outside table and chairs need replacing, cleaners need to empty bedroom bins and clean dining chairs. Beds are very comfortable, never slept so well. Beach is so quiet, even now in August, literally no one on there.

The house is very attractive, as are the surrounding gardens. Sea views and access just across the road to the shingle beach were also lovely features. The best view was from the viewing room on the first floor, unfortunately only reached by a somewhat perilous steeply winding staircase with no handrail at the bottom. We enjoyed the cycle/footpath via which we could enjoy long walks with a wheelchair towards Deal on a flat, smooth surface. But we were disappointed by the lack of disabled access in nearby pubs and eateries. The large kitchen/diner was very well equipped. We also appreciated the very comfortable beds. Some of the seating in the living room was rather well worn and could do with updating. It was a constant problem trying to watch TV which had no terrestrial aerial and kept warning of no signal. I then managed with some difficulty to get the connection from the BT box working but the BT box often shut itself off after a few hours, particularly annoying when watching Wimbledon. Sorting the connection again wasn’t straightforward. However, the Wi-fi signal was very good and reliable. My wife is disabled and has great difficulty with her mobility so it was good that she had the bedroom adjacent to the toilet. The bathroom was also in a convenient position next door. However, when in the living room and requiring a visit to the toilet, with my help, it would take a considerable time to get there and back again. If there was any possibility of a further toilet downstairs it would make a big difference, especially I would think if eight people were staying. We enjoyed our break and whilst we have made some criticisms, we do understand that the accommodation was not specifically advertised as suitable for the disabled. Our main criterion was to have two bedrooms on the ground floor and this was fully satisfied!
