The Tahoe Donner area itself is beautiful, refreshing, and within a heathy environment. The location of our cabin was ideal; located close to Donner Lake, Lake Tahoe, family who rented two other cabins in Donner Lake, and stores. The cabin had several upgrades that were much appreciated: new and clean. The rest of the cabin was the dirtiest place we have ever stayed! I don’t know what the owner/hosts are thinking! The 2 lamps in the large bdrm were broken, as was the wall-hanging mirror in the attached bathroom.The furniture, pillows, and kitchen towels must have been from Goodwill. The kitchen/recycling containers in the kitchen haven’t been cleaned in eons, and the same for the oven, etc. Upon entering we saw a sign asking us to take our shoes off and the carpets were filthy and the wood floors made our feet black! We could not access the cabin by using the lock box next to the front door. I reached out to the host twice two weeks and one week prior to our first day in the cabin, but we did not hear back from her until we were in the cabin. Also, the video game that was advertised as being in the kids room was missing, and our 7-year old had been very excited about it. As I stated earlier the cabin is in a gorgeous area and it is close to beaching, kayaking, sight seeing, but I had to share our experiences of the cabin itself.It was impossible for us to clean thoroughly prior to leaving, as is our standard, because everything hadn’t been cleaned in ? years.
