About this house rental

Immerse yourself in the timeless beauty of this 12 acre Riverfront property in Bridgeton, N.J. Experience the peaceful enjoyment of the property’s 800+ feet of direct river frontage on the Cohansey River. Situated on the site of the Prestigious Sora Gun Club, this historic 3-Bedroom, 2 Bath light-filled home with magnificent great room has classical details and distinctive appointments throughout. There is an additional 2 story building that has a 4th bedroom with a king bed. The 1st floor of this building has a 1/2 bath and a full pull out sofa. Outside there is a hot and cold shower. A serene Oasis! Many artifacts from the original structure including leaded glass doors and original gas lamps (converted to electric), along with a bedroom with walls constructed from the doors of the original club combine to create a unique blend of history with modern day comforts. With amazing water views from every room, along with eagles perched in the pine tree along the north side of the house, The Sora provides a special combination of historical charm and natural beauty. Also located on the property is an octagonal building which served as the outdoor kitchen for the gun club. The first floor of the narrow two story structure adjacent to the kitchen contains the original lockers where guests stored their guns used to hunt the Sora Rail Bird. The keys to the lockers along with the names of the guests, written in their own hand, remain in their original location. The second floor of the building housed the staff who provided service to guests. Updated with a modern kitchen and game room, The Sora is located only 35 miles from Philadelphia and an easy drive from New York. Historic Greenwich Township Greenwich Township was first formed as a precinct on January 19, 1748, and was incorporated by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on February 21, 1798, as one of New Jersey's initial group of 104 townships. Portions of Hopewell Township and Stow Creek Township were annexed in 1845. The township was named for Greenwich, England. In 1774, during the run-up to the American Revolutionary War, the small community on the Cohansey River was the site of the Greenwich Tea Party, in which a load of tea meant to be sent overland into Philadelphia, Pennsylvania was torched in the night. After the Revolutionary War, the pronunciation of the town was changed to Green-witch to differentiate itself from its English namesake Apple Picking Crisp and rosy, apples are biding their time in orchards throughout New Jersey.

Everything about this property was fantastic! The accommodations were exceedingly comfortable. Anything you could possibly need was there. The view was spectacular. Everything down to the tiniest detail was well thought out and designed from having music playing throughout the home to providing glitzy costumes for the disco to having binoculars available for viewing eagles!

Loved the expansive property with so much to do on site. The pool, game room, and disco were fun, as was kayaking on the Cohansey. That said, the best feature by far were the chaise lounges on the back patio overlooking the river watching bald eagles, ospreys, herons, egrets, wrens, and blackbirds. Tom was a great host and ensured we had a great time. Definitely want to come back!

The stay was fantastic, it is right on the river, fishing was good (caught some huge catfish), the pool was A+ for hot days, and we had an overall wonderful time. Kitchen was extremely well stocked, plenty of space for sleeping and hanging out, and a fire under the stars is a special treat we were able to enjoy.

First off Tom was the best host to deal with, hands-down. The place is exactly what it’s cracked up to be and wish we had more time to spend there, but we were down for a world sporting clay championship event and were away most of the day. Highly recommended.
