About this cabin rental

Wake up with the pure view on the pacific ocean

Breathe freely. Think freely. Feel freedom.

This place is a little secret on the pacific coast of Costa Rica. There are no big hotels here, no noisy discos or paved promenades with souvenir shops. You can watch the whales as they pass by, on a gentle hill with a view through the palm trees to the horizon of the Pacific. The pelicans invite you to fly with them and a slight coolness lets you fall asleep perfectly at night.

We stand for simple and sustainable awareness as much as possible. No, we are not perfect either, but invite you to come into direct contact with locals. We built the cabin “La Joya de Callejones” on our own. We invite you to take a break. Let your mind wander and connect with the simplicity of being.
Playa Callejones is part of the province Guanacaste, canton Santa Cruz, District 27 de Abril. The beach have two sides – the main entrance coming from Santa Cruz/Paraíso is in the south. This entrance you pass a little ravine (4×4 is not necessary). Immediate after this comes the second entrance on the north side of the beach. The cabin is right in the middle on a slight hill and can be reached with a normal car.

Other great beaches can be found both north (e.g. Playa Negra, Playa Avellanas) and south (Playa Blanca, Playa Junquillal, Marbella). This beach is very popular among surfers, but the practice is reserved for professionals and the really experienced. Simpler waves can be used, among other things, ride in Playa Negra or Avellanas.

Those who love sunsets will definitely get their money’s worth here! Even in the rainy season, because then the sky is often pricelessly painted in all colors in the passing clouds.

There are shops and various restaurants in the area, larger places can be reached by car, which is recommended, within 20-30 minutes (e.g. Santa Cruz or Tamarino). You like to get restaurant or excursion tips? I am happy to be there for you. I will arrange surfing courses, horse riding trips, massages and much more!

I’m not sure I can say enough good things about this magical place. The cabin was perfectly clean and had absolutely everything one could hope for. Everything was as depicted in the pictures and just a true pleasure of a space. The AC in the bedrooms was a huge plus for travelers coming from cold climates. The kitchen and its amenities were a huge class as well, and it had every convenience who could hope for, for easy cooking. The location is truly beautiful. It really is right in the beach where you have access to both the rocky landscape and sandy openings for wake boarding or surfing. If you keep your eyes open you will see the entire ecosystem of natural wonders. From hummingbirds and the birds to iguanas and baby sea turtles, to colorful tropical fish in the tide pools that form the tide is out, to hermit, crabs, and live sand dollars, the exploration right out the door is endless. As a mother traveling solo with her daughter, we both felt very safe at this beautiful place, and my heart already earns to return. The hosts were exceptionally responsive and wonderfully kind, and we feel both lucky and grateful for them to have opened this cabin up. You can simply feel that the cabinet is full of care, love and kindness.

If you want to experience life away from the madding crowds, this is the spot to experience Pura Vida. Life in its simplest form with everything you need and our hosts were wonderful, keeping in touch with us and being of great help to get us settled in. I would definitely go back - just waking up to that view every morning was a gift in itself. Thank you both for accommodating us.

This VRBO was absolutely stunning, the photos did not do it justice! The ocean and beach are literally right there. And the beach is beautiful. At high tide you can swim and low tide there are water pools everywhere to go and relax in as well! Honestly perfect. There is AC units above the beds which are greatly appreciated & blackout blinds to keep it super cool in the cabin! Highly recommend anyone to stay here in a heart beat - look no further!!

This place is even more beautiful than I thought it would be! It was perfect for us, who are avid campers and love living outdoors. The cabin is located on the top of a hill (about 30 steps down to the beach). There are 2 other cabins at the top of the hill. One is directly beside this cabin, which hinders the privacy. The other place is pretty hidden by the trees. We had complete privacy during the week, but not on the weekend. At night we walked the beach with flashlights and we saw a sea turtle! On our last morning we finally saw the 9 howler monkeys that woke us up each day and we saw a pod of whales swim by!!! Bring binoculars!! You can snorkel right at the bottom of the hill (we saw a variety of small colourful fish, others saw a sea turtle). Playa Negra is 20 minutes up the beach and the surfing there is incredible. We watched some pro surfers. You can also surf right at the bottom of the hill. Advanced surfing. There is a sandy beach 10 minutes south (halfway between cabin and Playa Negra) which was perfect for swimming. The road in is very rugged and hard to navigate at first - don’t arrive at nighttime!! The kitchen is well stocked, however, the main issue is the fridge! It is tiny and does not keep food/drinks cold -especially in the heat. A full-sized fridge is greatly needed here as it is remote and very hot. Bring a big cooler and lots of ice!! We would definitely come back to this place. Beatrice was fantastic and made sure we had what we needed. AMAZING PLACE!
