About this apartment rental

The house is located in the center of the ancient village of Monterosso, accessed via an external staircase of about 50 steps from Via Buranco and is located 100 meters from the beach and 10 minutes walk from the station. The area is quiet and ideal for a relaxing stay. In the immediate vicinity is the supermarket, bars, restaurants etc. The nearest beaches are both free and paid. A few meters from the apartment are the accesses for the paths of the 5 Terre and for boarding the ferries. The ancient part of Monterosso al Mare is characterized by several places where you can taste a glass of wine or eat a plate of pasta with pesto or fresh fish. The 5 Terre is the ideal place for those who want to relax by taking a swim at the beach or sunbathing on the beach as well as for those who want to take a walk through the vineyards or along the sea passing from one village to another. My advice is also to take a boat ride to admire the 5 Terre from the sea.

The location was conveniently located in the old town. The place had a home like feel and all the conveniences you would expect. The host, Yrasema, was exceptionally helpful, friendly and communicative. The 47 uneven stairs were challenging for our old legs, especially with luggage.

We absolutely fell in love with montessoro. This location could not and better. Walked any number of restaurants or cafes or for some groceries and make your own snack in the apartment. Walk the beach. It was just delightful. Also our host was so lovely and communicative. Making sure we had everything we needed and offering suggestions. We would love to come again another time!

This is a beautiful property that is kept clean and fully stocked. The owner is so nice and is very good at communicating quickly. She also gave great recommendations for our meals. This is a perfect apartment for a family, our family of 4 was very comfortable here. We fell in love with Monterosso and will be back.

This property was right in the centre of Monterosso. Great location and close to shops, food markets, bars and restaurants. Trains were close by as well. Our host Yrasema was wonderful. She provided very detailed instructions on how to get to the parking lot and even sent photos to show the way to the apartment which was a great help. She reached out daily and provided suggestions for restaurants and activities. I would recommend this lodging to anyone interested in staying in Monterosso.

Perfect apartment in the old town of Monterosso. Everything about this location was perfect and it’s in the heart of the old town. Great location to the beach and many food options. Plus owner was very accommodating and provided recommendations for food and the best bakery in the city. If we go back we will definitely stay here, plus the AC was a plus. Thank you Yrasema for being a great host!

The location was primo for location - only steps to restaurants, gelato and a free beach with so much more a short walk away. Generously provided beach gear and everything we needed for our favorite meal of fresh local pasta and pesto from the market at the foot of our steps. The hostess graciously also shared helpful recommendations and responded to our questions faster and more compety than any i have stayed with.

We had a great stay at Sol y Mar. Great communication, a lovely welcoming apartment and great location. It worked out really well - even with a 7 and 9 year old. Would definitely stay here again and highly recommend.

We stopped here in Monterosso after a stressful work trip and Yrasema is by far, one of the most incredible hospitable, friendly people I have rented from and this is my third trip to Italy and I have stayed in many places!! Our family had a wonderful time in this lovely Monterosso home. Host is very sweet, attentive and helpful. Location is perfect - walking to the hiking trails, beach, restaurants and train station was super convenient and enjoyable. Such a beautiful town and comfy home.

The host, Yrasema, was very friendly and kind. She sent us lots of helpful information during our stay and responded quickly to questions. Don’t worry about the stairs up to the property. They were easy if you are moderately fit. The apartment was comfortable and very clean. She also left useful things like beach shoes, beach umbrellas, towels, and toys. As well as umbrellas for rain. The kitchen is well stocked. The apartment is steps away from the best shops and restaurants. There is also quick and easy access to the train station and the ferry boat dock.

A homely apartment in the heart of old Monterosso. From the warm greeting to the very helpful departure when I left my backpack locked inside Yrasema was very accommodating. Everything was in walking distance. The stair were not a problem for myself and my friend but could be for some. Comfortable beds. A great home away from home.

The apartment is perfect, located in the old town part of Monterosso, very quiet, with all the amenities one might need, within walking distance to the center, beach, train station etc. We can highly recommend it to anyone who plans to visit Cinque Terre. The property was just as it was presented on VRBO. It was clean and stocked with anything you could need, whether you are headed to the beautiful beach or staying in for a home cooked meal. We loved sharing a bottle of wine in the evening on the little balcony and in the morning while having cappuccino. It was everything as stated. Great location, clean. Host was excellent, met us at the apartment, recommended restaurants to eat. On departure it was raining and she offered to lend us umbrellas to use for our walk to the train station and meet us to pick them up. Would recommend staying there-even with the 50 steps. This is a great apartment right in the middle of Monterosso. Even if it's central it is very peaceful. The AC works great. The kitchen is very easy to use. I'm not used to gas stove but this one is so easy! Yrasema is the best host ever! She gives great tips and is so friendly and lovely.

Though we rented this 2 bedroom unit, when we arrived there were sheets only on the bed in the larger bedroom. When we contacted the owner, we were informed that since there were only two of us, we were expected to share the one bed and if we wanted sheets for the second bedroom, we needed to pay an additional 20 euro. When the owner was advised that we would not pay, and we would write a critical review if she insisted on the additional payment, she accused us of blackmail. Frankly, in our view, her demand for additional payment for sheets for the second bedroom was more accurately described as extortion. She grudgingly provided sheets the following day, which we had to put on the bed. The only other notable issue with the property is the 50 stairs from the street to the unit. In fairness, we were advised by the owner well in advance of these stairs. However, after 26 hours of travel, (3 planes and 3 trains), these narrow, outdoor, winding, stone steps were backbreaking.

Our favorite restaurant in Cinque Terre, L'Osteria, is a short block away. Wish we had more time to eat there more than just once this trip. We knew about the 50 steps when booking so that didn't bother us. Be careful that some steps are higher than others. Beautiful Cinque Terre (CT) village neighborhood. Short walk to the train to access the other CT villages. Nice stone beach with food and excellent drinks and umbrellas a short walk away. Lots of good restaurants and bars in the neighborhood. The main bedroom had AC and the second bedroom got the AC from the kitchen and there are windows at the top of the walls. The place is small so that worked. The kitchen had the needed appliances but we didn't use them with all the great restaurants close by. The water pressure was good and plenty of hot water in the shower. The shower stall was a little small and you had to be quick so as not to wet the bathroom floor when turning on the water. Close the windows so as not to let the bugs in. I only wish they had blackout curtains so it's not so bright in the main bedroom. I didn't think to see if they had shutters to make it darker in the room. Easy check-in and check-out. Yrasema was awesome. She let us leave our bags so we could enjoy the morning of our check-out before our train departed.

We enjoyed our stay, the owner was in contact to help with our needs. The apartment was convenient to ammenities, clean and just what we needed for after staying in hotels. I would suggest that some of the appliances, such as the washer, had instructions on its use in English.

The owner obviously takes a lot of pride in her apartment and has decorated it in a wonderful beach theme. She was personable and communicative. The location of the property is great. The steep stairs were a bit difficult with suitcases, but very manageable otherwise. We really enjoyed our stay there.....and there was a washing machine which was great.

Beautiful apartment stacked with amenities (including a full kitchen, washing machine, balcony, etc). Very clean and comfortable. It is apparent that a lot of love, time, and effort have been poured into the residence; it truly feels like a home away from home. Location is ideal, 2 minutes from the main square and beach but just far enough to avoid any noise issues. The host was gracious and helpful and offered advise on local restaurants, pastry shops, etc. I really can’t imagine our stay in Monterosso being so perfect had we stayed anywhere else. Be warned, there are about 20 uneven steps up to the apartment. My wife and I welcomed the exercise after our daily gelato but I can see these being an issue for those less fit or dealing with strollers or excessive luggage.
