About this cabin rental
Welcome to Butternut Cabin, the original cabin at Pilgrim Heights. Built in the early 1940s just after Sportsman’s Lake was created, this space was once a summer house for roller rink workers, later served as a staff cabin, and after years of sitting quiet, it’s been brought back to life for short stays, camps, and retreats.
Tucked right beside the lake, Butternut offers peaceful views from its private deck and a cozy, rustic feel inside. It features a king bed, futon, kitchenette (microwave, mini fridge, coffee maker, and hot plate), AC and a private bathroom with a hot shower.
Your stay supports more than just a weekend getaway—rental proceeds help fund programs for youth and families to experience nature, community, and rest here at Pilgrim Heights.
PLEASE NOTE: All roads on our grounds are gravel, but please note that the road leading directly to your cabin is especially rough. 4 wheel drive recommended.

Our family enjoyed our stay so much the kids asked when we are going again on the way home. We made wonderful memories as a family while we fished, kayaked, paddle boated, canoed, and explored nature. So nice that life jackets, kayaks, canoes and paddle boat were available to use with our stay. Our family loved all the water fun! We enjoyed bring our dog along too since she is an important part of our family. Pilgrim Heights is so close to our home that we plan on going many more times! The staff were so friendly and helpful.
