About this cottage rental
Kirkview Cottage is located in the historic village of Upper Largo in the picturesque East Neuk of Fife, 10 miles from the historic town of St Andrews famed for its golf and university.
The cottage is a pet friendly (2 dogs are allowed free of charge) single storey bungalow which sleeps 4 in comfort. All rooms are on the same floor with no internal steps. There is a small enclosed mature garden to the rear which catches the sun on a nice day and is a great place to sit and relax. Kirkview has an open aspect overlooking Upper Largo's small village green and its historic church. Many walks radiate from Upper Largo including the challenging climb up Largo Law (the views are worth it) and access to the Fife coastal path is very close by.
The property was upgraded in 2019 and is finished in a modern contemporary style and features all the equipment you will need for a comfortable holiday.
Close by is the historic Largo House (now sadly a ruin) once occupied by Sir Andrew Wood, famed for seeing off English raiders in the Firth of Forth during the reign of James IV. Walk up the hill out of the village, past the school and cemetery and look back to the fields behind Largo House to see if you can trace the canal Sir Andrew built to allow him to sail to church on Sunday.
The village of Upper Largo has the popular and hospitable Upper Largo Hotel, which serves great value meals at lunch and dinner 7 days a week, the hotel also has a small bar (which is dog friendly) if you only want a drink or a bar supper. The hotel is a 2 minute walk from the cottage.
Further afield the nearest supermarket is 3 miles away in Leven and there are a variety of eating places within easy striking distance ranging from the Michelin starred restaurants to the award winning fish and chip shops as well as multiple quality farm shops and markets.

This is our sixth year staying in this location, but our first time at this particular cottage since our previous accommodation was sold. The property is very well-presented. The master bedroom offers plenty of wardrobe and drawer space, and the bed and pillows were highly comfortable. However, we would have appreciated the option of a flat sheet, as the duvet got quite hot at night. The second bedroom is on the smaller side, featuring only a small tallboy and a bedside cabinet. Personally, it was a bit too cramped for my parents who joined us.
The shower was spacious, providing plenty of hot water and a choice between two different shower heads.
The kitchen is well stocked. We had a bit of a learning curve with the combined washer/dryer since we don't have this type at home, finding that the towels took a long time too dry. We eventually discovered that the 30-minute quick wash and dry setting worked best. The garden features a small rotary washing line; it initially needed some overhanging branches cut back to be usable, but the gardeners arrived mid-week and sorted this out.
The secure garden was perfect for our dog. Additionally, there is a green directly opposite and a cricket pitch just 100 metres away, which were perfect for early morning and evening dog walks.
We also loved that we could leave the windows securely open while we were out, and parking was convenient right outside the property.
Would we return? Yes, we are already hoping to book again for next year!

A cute little cottage in a beautiful position. Very clean and well equipped. Really nice to have a garden to sit outside and to let the dogs out.
Well positioned near to all the wonderful seaside villages and the coastal path.
Wonderful walks to the beach every morning.
We had a nice meal at Upper Largo Hotel. A very friendly and welcoming establishment.
A fab dog friendly week in Fife.

Fantastic cottage beautiful enclosed garden which the dogs loved.
I would definitely recommend this cottage it was spotless had every home comfort. Great walks for dog's beautiful area of Fife. I would definitely rent the cottage again.
