The Sandbar – A Gulf-View Retreat on Dauphin Island
Welcome to The Sandbar, a spacious 3rd-tier Gulf-front beach house located on Dauphin Island. This three-bedroom, 2.5-bath home offers stunning views of the Gulf of Mexico, just two houses back from the water, with direct beach access via a private easement. For those seeking the ultimate island experience, the rooftop Crow’s Nest provides unmatched panoramic views of the Gulf, the island, and breathtaking sunsets.
Step inside to a bright and airy open concept living space. The wall of windows and sliding glass door fill the home with natural light and lead out to a spacious Gulf-facing deck, perfect for relaxing to the sound of the waves. The living area seamlessly flows into the fully stocked kitchen, complete with everything needed to prepare meals, a coffee bar with a Keurig and drip coffee maker, and a dining space where everyone can gather. A convenient half-bath is also located just off the kitchen.
On one side of the home, the primary suite offers a king-size bed, flat-screen TV, and private ensuite bath with a walk-in shower. Across the living area, two additional bedrooms share a hall bathroom with a tub/shower combo. One bedroom features a full-size bed with a twin-over-twin bunk, while the other includes a full-size bed and a twin bed. Both guest rooms also have flat-screen TVs.
Outdoor living is just as inviting, with expansive deck space perfect for soaking in the island breeze. The Crow’s Nest is a guest favorite, offering incredible 360-degree views of Dauphin Island and the Gulf. Beach access is just steps away behind the home via a sandy path along the fence line. Lovely home feel. Great location to beach access. My husband and kids(5,14,14,16,19) loved the community. We rented a pink golf cart for the stay as well and it is so convenient to be able to use it to ride around the island. The restaurants were great. The kids was pirates pizza. I loved islanders. Felt great to disconnect from the rest of the world. Felt like our own slice of paradise. We can not wait to go again.

We love Dauphin Island and have stayed all over, this house is in a great location, just steps from the water but not IN the water (have stayed in one of those before...not my thing). Overall, we would stay here again but it does need some care & attention. There are so many positives about this house: It was well equipped with three bedrooms configured for multiple needs - we had a mom & 9 year old sharing the King bedroom, a mom and teen daughter sharing the full/twin room, and a group of teen boys sharing the bunk room. The house was large enough for all of us to move around, and had no issues sharing the bathrooms. Ample parking and super convenient to the ocean. The negatives of this property are mostly maintenance related. Upon check-in we realized there was only one key provided and not a passcode to the door - good to know if people will be coming and going often. The main bedroom was not very clean - there was a lot of hair, in the drawers and in the bathroom. It definitely felt more like a quick run through from a cleaning perspective and not in depth. The oven is nearly rusted out, and the fridge ice maker is on its last leg. Also, I would not advise planning to use the grill provided.The crow's nest is nice, but unstable. One of the teens using it broke through a step on the way down & it sways under the smallest amount of movement. The sand surrounding the area has a lot of broken glass, be sure to wear shoes to and from the beach.
