About this cottage rental
Keepers Cottages are delighted to welcome you to the Writer's Cottage, a charming, period, three-storey cottage located just off the vibrant high street of Deal.
This tastefully decorated, coastal cottage would suit couples, or a family looking for a centrally located base for a trip to Deal.
The pallet of soft white walls, exposed beams, wooden floors and soft carpets in the bedrooms, give the house a homely, easy-going feel which will suit most guests looking for a relaxed location to unwind.
Arranged over three floors, there are two double bedrooms and a cloakroom with WC/ handbasin on the first floor. The large, bright reception room and relaxed dining room are on the ground floor, the spacious kitchen & attractive master bathroom, are located on the lower ground floor.
The property has a deceptively large, and very attractive rear garden. Access to the garden is via the lower-ground floor, however the addition of French doors and a pretty Juliette-style balcony in the dining room, allows you to enjoy the lovely garden vista from the ground floor.
The bright kitchen is equipped with everything you need to prepare meals during your stay, whether you choose to eat in the cosy dining room during colder months, or in the beautiful garden with its choice of seating, in the warmer months!

Ground Floor
Step through the front door of the Writer's Cottage and into the charming reception room with wooden floors and soft grey sofas. The light decor and exposed beams give the space a historical, yet cosy feel.
The relaxed dining room with wooden table and chairs to comfortably seat 6 people, has French doors with a Juliette style balcony, which allow a beautiful view of the garden and add to the feeling of space in this open-plan room.
Lower Ground Floor
Kitchen
Stairs lead you down to a large, Mediterranean-style kitchen, which has painted built in cupboards, pretty tiles and a useful breakfast bar with high stools to perhaps enjoy a morning coffee. The fully equipped kitchen has an ample supply of glass, chinaware and cooking equipment. There is a dishwasher, microwave, and a gas hob with oven under.
Master Bathroom
The wonderful, wood-panelled master bathroom, has a freestanding roll top bath, separate built in shower cubicle, handbasin and WC
First Floor
Bedroom One
The master bedroom has an attractive street view, wooden double bed, ample storage and soft carpets.
Cloakroom
The cloakroom is located next door to the master bedroom and has a WC and handbasin.
Bedroom Two
Bedroom two is located at the rear of the house with a pretty annexed ceiling and exposed beams. There is a king-size metal bed, generous storage and subtle lighting. This cosy bedroom continues the same fresh, modern approach which flows through this lovely home.

The garden is a really lovely large sunny area. There is a paved area for eating and the rest is laid to lawn.

The Writer´s Cottage was perfect! Good walking distance to every of our favoured destinations (the ocean, station, parking, Pepper´s organic shop, cafe´s & delis at the high street, supermarket...), the kitchen is very well equipped, in general the cosy house is beautifully decorated. We had a lovely time - could not have been better. The Keepers Team is outstanding: Helpful and kind and curates the best properties to stay in at the Kentish Coast.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Writer's Cottage. We loved the features and particularly the beautiful garden. The owners had gone over and beyond providing things like crockery, condiments etc. Very easy to get to anywhere in Deal from here as central position. A couple of cracks here and there, but the character of the cottage more than made up for that. We'd certainly come back.

Sadly we have found another Keepers Cottage property which is quite tired and in need of some tlc.
Also would have been nice to know about the basement toilet being a macerator - unpleasant smell at times
Sadly we won’t be using keepers cottages again.

The weather was perfect, the location is perfect, but Writers Cottage is in dire need of renovation.
Unfortunately, the property no longer lives up to the description on the website.
The team at Keepers Cottage did their utmost to resolve all the issues, and we can only praise them.
Fortunately, the weather was beautiful, so we spent a lot of time outdoors and didn't have to spend much time indoors. Deal is and remains a wonderful place to stay, and the week flew by.
But we won't be renting Writers Cottage again.
