Vela is a private 1-bedroom apartment at Casa Verapaz, a peaceful lakeside property with beautiful lake and volcano views.
Please note that Casa Verapaz also has two other apartments on the property: Carina and Pablo. Your booking includes private use of Vela, while the pool, hot springs jacuzzi, gardens, BBQ areas, and lake access are shared.

- Private 1-bedroom apartment with 1 King bed and 1 Queen sofa bed
- Full kitchen, dining area, and comfortable living room
- Beautiful lake and volcano views
- Bright, cozy layout with large windows and natural light
- Access to the shared pool, hot springs jacuzzi, gardens, BBQ areas, and lake access
- Dog-friendly: $50 USD / Q385 per pet, per stay
- Laundry service available: Q60 per load
Sleeping arrangements:
- 1 King bed in the bedroom
- 1 Queen sofa bed in the living room
Guest access:
- Guests will have private access to the Vela apartment.
- Casa Verapaz has two other apartments on the property: Carina and Pablo. The pool, hot springs jacuzzi, gardens, and lake access are shared with guests staying in those apartments.
- Vela also has its own private balcony BBQ for your use.
- If arriving by car, guests may park only in the assigned parking space for Vela. You will receive keys for the property entrances, with access from both the main road and the lakeside, and we will also provide a gate remote for easier entry.
- Some gated areas of the property, including the main house and service areas, are reserved for owners and staff only.
Other things to note:
- Check-in instructions will be sent 24 hours before arrival.
- Dog-friendly: $50 USD / Q385 per pet, per stay. Please add your pet to the reservation.
- Laundry service available: Q60 per load.
- Parking: On-site parking is best suited for smaller vehicles. Larger vehicles may need to park on the street or in paid parking nearby.
- Please note: As is common in our hillside lakeside setting, the property includes stairs and outdoor walking paths between some areas.
- For safety, exterior security cameras are located at the front entrance, stairs, and rear entrances. They record video only, not sound.
- The property offers natural lake access, not a beach-style swimming area.
- The pool is not heated, and the jacuzzi is heated on request.
- Santa Catarina Palopó is a peaceful village, but like many towns in Guatemala, there may occasionally be fireworks, music, church sounds, or local celebrations.

We arrived at night and instantly fell in love with the property. Just as we thought it couldn’t get any better, we woke up to the most stunning views. The property is gorgeous and was spotless!!! Our trip would not have been as spectacular if it weren’t for the host, Julio, and the groundskeeper, Alfonso. For kayaking, jet skis, massages, and restaurants, the host was able to provide some amazing recommendations and was readily available to answer any questions. Alfonso was very kind and constantly maintaining the property. Overall, this is the best experience I’ve had!!!

My husband and I spent 5 days in one of this apartments, and oh what a beautiful place this is.
This are some of the things I think a guest can find helpful: This units are new, there's no dust, no noise no clutter.
Our apartment had everything we needed for our stay and more.
Views are amazing, during the day you can enjoy the view of Lago Atitlan, during the night the shimmering lights of a couple of towns at the other side of the lake.
We took advantage of the gate at the lower point of the property and went for walks at the edge of the lake. By the way if you follow the path to the right of the property, you'll find the hot water springs on the side of the mountain.
To the left of the property you can find a pier and plenty of boats that can take you to the other towns.
Had dinner in different restaurants of the area and Also went to the little market at a walking distance from Casa Verapaz.
We enjoyed almost everything this property has to offer except the pool. Not because it wasn't ready but because it rained a lot during the days we stayed there.
So far one of the best properties we've visited in Guatemala.

If you are planning a trip to Lake Atlan, this is the spot! It is a two minute walk to the Hot Springs The apartment is impeccable very clean very modern with an amazing view. If you’re looking to relax that tub in the master bedroom is divine. Julio and Alfonso were extremely warm and welcoming. They have a grill that you can use a pool that depending on other properties being rented you have it all to yourself. Don’t look any further. This is the place to stay at. And Jacuzzi to come with thermal waters.
