About this house rental
We have a lakefront property with a private dock, large deck with a Palapa roof over the lake. The house is a large 3 bedroom, 3 1/2 bathroom modern villa. Magnificent views of the lake and volcanoes.
All stays at Casa de Larry will help our local Amigos de Santa Cruz foundation by donating 10% of the cost of the stay to building a new school for the children of Santa Cruz. Ask us about how you too can learn more and help with the Siqajan School building capital campaign.
The Palapa over the lake is one of the most unique features of this property. Ideal for weddings, parties, yoga, or just lounging in the sun. It consists of a 1000 sq ft deck with a palapa roof over half of the deck, providing ample sun and shade. Deck furniture, lounge chairs, hammocks and swings.
The house is a grand villa with huge bay windows looking out over the lake from the living room, dining room and bedrooms. There are three very large private bedrooms, each complete with a private bathroom consisting of double vanities, shower and tub. The master bedroom has a king sized bed, while the two guest rooms consist of 3 beds each (1 King sized, 3 doubles, and 2 can be rearranged to suit your needs). The house also has a fully equipped kitchen, patio, dining room, living room, and meditation room. Perfect for groups of couples, families, or individuals. The house can comfortably sleep up to 12 guests.
The house has a beautiful yard with palm trees, plenty of outside sitting and hammocks, outside furnished patio, lakeside hot tub/jacuzzi, dry/wet temazcal/sauna, Starlink WiFi Internet access, hot water, and a full kitchen with appliances.
Our house sits on the main lakefront path that runs from Santa Cruz to Paxanax. There are hotels and restaurants to enjoy within a 10 minute walk from our home. You can also reach any of the other villages around the lake for day trips by boat. The first public boats begin by 6 AM while the last ones return at 5:30 PM. Private boats can be arranged to pick you up or drop you off at our private dock at any time.

Guest Access:
Guests renting the house will have full use of the entire house, yard, palapa deck, and private dock. We have a small casita behind the house where the onsite caretakers live.
If needed, we can recommend private shuttle transportation from the Airport in Guatemala City to the docks of Panajachel and a private boat ready to take you to our private dock. The cost is usually about $150 for the private shuttle for 6 people from Guatemala City and $20 for the private boat. My son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Sarah, are live in caretakers who live in the casita behind the main house part of the year. They will greet you when you arrive and be glad to answer any questions you may have about the property and the surrounding lakeside. Part of the year, we will have a property manager/housekeeper/cook Elena who will be available to assist.

Getting Around
The only way to arrive to Santa Cruz is by boat. If you arrive by car you can easily leave it parked in a secure car park in Panajachel called Kayucos Marino for 100Q a night, located right next to the public docks to Santa Cruz. Public boats run from the docks in Panajachel every 20 minutes and service all the villages from Panajachel to San Pedro. The rate for a public boat from Pana or San Pedro is Q25 per person, while a private boat can be negotiated for around Q150.

Larry is very helpful and communicative. He is definitely a part of the community in Santa Cruz La Laguna. Larry has a wonderful local woman, Elena, who was able to cook us several meals and assist with a few groceries. The Guatemalan food she made was a delicious highlight!The location is fantastic. It’s a short 5-10 minute boat ride from Panajachel. There is a walking path that goes from the front of the property, along the waterfront to the public dock and beyond. There were several restaurant options and a little tienda there. The property is also next door to a manicured soccer field which can be cheaply rented by the hour (to the delight of a 10 year old boy in our group). The hot tub was clean and hot! There are several outdoor hang-out areas to choose from. Coffee on the palapa was serene and lovely.

Literally one of the best vacation stays at a VRBO we have ever experienced. The location was fantastic and very easy to get to all the various villages on the lake. Highly recommend anyone visiting Atitlan to stay here.

We all agreed Casa de Larry was our favorite stay in Guatemala! Check in was easy so was check out! We were given advise where to eat and boat prices. Swimming at the lake was our favorite activity so enjoyed that there was a dock to jump off of. All rooms were spacious and the kitchen was stocked with needed items. And yes, we will definitely come back and stay our only wish was that we stayed longer!
