There is a full 30/50-amp RV hookup located in front of Desert Quail Oasis. The RV site is not rented separately. The site is only available (for an extra charge) when you rent Desert Quail Oasis. Contact the host to make arrangements for RV site rental.

The RV electrical connection (240v, 50-amp) can be used for charging an electric vehicle for a small additional daily fee through prior arrangement with the host.

OUTDOOR SPACE

We provide a wood burning firepit and a charcoal grill (you provide the firewood and charcoal). You can purchase firewood and charcoal at Cottonwood grocery in Study Butte and other places in the area. A Picnic table is provided near the grill. We offer sturdy Adirondack chairs around the firepit for a comfortable campfire and stargazing experience. We also offer the American Washers game near our outside seating areas.

SAFETY:

Fire extinguishers are located in the kitchen and outside on the porch. Although there is a fire pit provided, please do not have a fire if winds are high. The desert is a dry place and fires can spread very easily and very quickly. Use safe fire practices. The home is equipped with fire alarms and CO2 detectors. There is first aid kit in the bathroom vanity.

SECURITY CAMERAS: There are security cameras outside on the property. None of them view areas where our guest might hang out and relax. One camera views the entry door. Others view the driveway entrance and an RV shade structure that is a short walk from the cabin.

This was a great home base for us to explore Big Bend and the surrounding area. Our biggest priority was seeing a really dark night sky, and the location was isolated enough that we had no stray light from anywhere else - we got great photos of the Milky Way on our first night. It is about 30 minutes away from the park entrance and the park itself takes a lot of time to drive across, so you might want to be a lot closer if your goal is being on the trails early.Daryl and Janet were great hosts who communicated everything clearly and answered the very few questions we had quickly. Everything is laid out in the info PDF you're sent after booking. The cabin is quite spacious compared to other pricier options. The kitchen was large enough for us to cook in and had everything we needed for a short stay, but I'd bring one of my knives with me if I came again - I understand having serrated knives for durability in a rental, but they're hard to use if you're chopping a lot of things. Basically, bring the important/specialty stuff with you. The was plenty of drinking water, and the bathroom was fully stocked. The third bed being a twin in the hallway instead of the sofa would be great for a family with a child. The driveway doesn't need a high-clearance vehicle. If you log into your streaming account on the TV, don't forget to log out. There really are desert quail running around the place in the mornings!

This was an amazing place to stay! Quiet, clean, and very comfortable with all the necessary amenities. The location is about 15 minutes from Terlingua proper (gas/groceries/ice), and 30 minutes from Big Bend Entrance. I’d stay here again.
