About this villa rental
Casa de Iluminación is a 5,000 sq. ft. luxury villa in the Mar Vista community of Playa Flamingo, built in 2021. It's just minutes from Playa Flamingo, Flamingo Marina, and nearby beaches like Playa Potrero and Playa Conchal — and ~1 hour from Liberia's international airport.
The open-concept kitchen and living area flow out to a large terrace with a fire pit, outdoor dining, and a BBQ. Wall-to-wall sliding doors bring the outdoors in, with sweeping views of the infinity pool and the Pacific Ocean.

The Layout
The villa has 5 bedrooms, each with its own en-suite bathroom, spread across the main house and a separate apartment:
**Upper floor
•Master Suite — Upon entering the Master Suite, an enclosed toilet room sits to the left and an enclosed shower room to the right, with a double-sink vanity, integrated in the suite, a few steps ahead. Beyond it, the king-size bed area, with a Smart TV, opens onto two private balconies: an open-air ocean-view balcony on one side, and another ocean-view balcony in front with a sitting bench and an ocean-view soaking tub.
**Main floor
•Ocean-view family room — king bed, Smart TV, en-suite bathroom, and a loft area (up a small staircase) with two additional single beds.
•Second ocean-view room — king bed, Smart TV, en-suite bathroom.
•Additional bedroom — king bed, full-size pull-out sofa, en-suite bathroom, and a big TV for movie nights.
**Apartment (down a staircase from the pool deck)
•Ocean-view terrace, kitchenette, living area with a Smart TV and a full-size pull-out sofa bed, a separate king-size bedroom with a workdesk, and an en-suite bathroom.

The house is beautiful, spacious and clean. The nightly sunsets were breathtaking, overlooking the pool and ocean. The property manager and team were super responsive and helpful. We would definitely stay at this home again.

We had such a great time in Costa Rica, and enjoyed this very beautiful property overall. Maria was great and very helpful, and the staff at the front gate were very friendly also.
It is a beautiful home with a great view. The furniture/ appliances are very nice and the extras are appreciated (extra condiments, soap, laundry detergent, paper towel, beach towels and speaker to name a few).
We saw howler monkeys nearby, foxes, lizards and lots of beautiful birds as well.
We loved shopping locally in Playa Flamingo, as well as trying out some of the local restaurants.
We especially loved a couple dinners at sunset at Coco Loco. Although the sunset from the patio is pretty spectacular as well.
We had an issue with wifi connecting in the main kitchen/ living room of the house for some reason? Wifi was best in the bedrooms and on the patio.
Our main con for the property was the noise and the constant dust with all the construction around. We realise this is not the house itself, but it was very disruptive and does impact your time at the house. There was constantly workers looking over, noise, trucks dropping rocks and excavation etc right next door. One of the days we ended up leaving as there was a huge amount of activity next door and huge constant plumes of dust covering us, and the furniture, patio and pool. The pool got consistently dirtier as well through the week. Maybe an extra clean of the pool mid stay might be needed during this construction phase?
It would have been appreciated to have a heads up of all this work around us. For the price per night there is no sleeping in, and it is not as relaxing around the pool as it should be. Every morning we were cleaning and sweeping off the furniture, patio, etc from the excessive dust. Not a huge deal but not really how you want to start your morning each day on vacation. The workers are just doing their job and we appreciate that. But we would not necessarily have made this same choice for our holiday if we had known.
We would definitely recommend this house!!! But would recommend checking if construction is still heavy next door as it has a big impact to utilising the otherwise beautiful outdoor space, which I imagine that others, like us, want on a holiday.
Hope others can enjoy the Pura Vida lifestyle here as well. Overall fantastic space, and will be even better once the area is done developing.
