It felt like an authentic Kyoto machiya from the Edo period, with a few modern comforts added. Also, there was quite a bit of privacy and everyone had enough space.
It was pretty clear that this place was intended for foreigners. My wife, who is Japanese, did not enjoy it. She said that the changing area in the bathroom was cramped.

Very nice stay in traditional townhouse. Beds were comfortable
A little walk away from the action. The room lets in all noise and a group came back at midnight making lots of noise keeping me awake.

台所シンクの排水が、ごみを流したくないけれど、フラットで外せない感じでした。どうするのがベストなのか、ちょっと答えがみつかりませんでした。大丈夫だったかな、と少し心配です。不便というより、何かよいアドバイスがあると、うれしかったかも。

Good location, cool vibe and nice little room.
If your room is on the street level, be warned that there is nothing separating you from the street noise except windows. If you're a light sleeper you will not sleep in or get an early night.
You'll also be able to clearly hear the other guests in the adjacent rooms, including walking above you, suitcases moving around, etc.
