The Cork is a nicely furnished, well-equipped 4 bedroom cottage ideal for a family who wants to be really close to the beach without those high oceanfront rates! South Nags Head is a great location for a true beach vacation. It is completely residential and very quiet, but most essential goods and services are located only about a mile north of The Cork at Whalebone Junction. This includes a small supermarket, a 7-11 store, a service station, several excellent restaurants and a variety of shops at the Tanger Outlet Mall. The spectacular new North Carolina Aquarium Complex at Jennette's Pier is also only a mile north of The Cork and the very popular Outer Banks Fishing Pier/ Fish Heads Bar and Grill is a mile south. Bodie Island lighthouse, the Oregon Inlet Fishing Center, and the Cape Hatteras National Seashore are only minutes away. A short drive takes you to Roanoke Island and all its attractions including the N.C. Aquarium, Festival Park with its replica of the good ship Elizabeth II, the Lost Colony outdoor drama and Fort Raleigh National Historical Site. You can see, hear and smell the ocean from the house and it's just a few steps away. South Nags Head features a five mile long multi-purpose "super-sidewalk" where vacationers can bike, jog, or just walk safely away from traffic. Inside, you'll find all stainless steel appliances in the kitchen, a comfortable living room, and an upper level den with ocean views. There are also many other pleasant places to sit and read or chat including 3 decks facing both East and West so you can catch the sunrise or the sunset; some rays or some shade. It's all up to you once you pop The Cork!

Okay, the location is Primo! It was pet friendly and a great bargain. However, I would be remiss not to mention the overall condition of this house. It needs a serious deep cleaning, painting, furniture repair ( the dresser drawers were falling out) and new furniture in most rooms. We found an open can of Pringles behind the couch. Yuck. It was dusty and the furnishings are tired and outdated, especially the TV downstairs.I was there with family and we had a great time, but this house is a hot mess. Also, the master level loft and bedroom are open and share a ceiling. If privacy is an issue, this may not work for you. The architecture is incredibly amazing. The bones of this house are great. I just think when people walk into a dumpy property that has been neglected, they treat it badly. I actually cleaned it myself and organized the kitchen dishes better.
I had great communication with the host and did not require any service calls. The appliances look fairly new but haven’t been cleaned properly and are starting to look bad, but they worked. Would not book again. I am willing to pay a little more for nicer property.

Contacted the property company on Monday that the dishwasher did not work Did not see a repair man until Friday. Had to hand wash dishes all week The air conditioner in the upstairs master bedroom was not sealed right. Water was coming in from the sides and we had to stuff towels in do it wouldn’t leak on the floor. Very nice house but needs some work.

This house is in need of a deep cleaning and several repairs. The screen door upstairs was on upside down. no screens on several of the windows, sticky surfaces, bureau drawers were wonky, knobs fell off, musty smelling furniture.
Wonderful front porch and view of the ocean, comfortable beds
