Nyumbani is a traditional single storey Skye cottage situated in its own wrap around gardens overlooking beautiful Loch Harport on the stunning west coast of the Isle of Skye. Nyumbani mean 'our home', in Swahili, and this aptly describes this attractive cottage, with its homely lounge/dining room with open fire, deep leather sofas, family sized kitchen and 3 generously proportioned bedrooms. There is a lovely conservatory that provides a second lounge area, with large flat screen TV and DVD. Doors open onto the fully enclosed gardens that surround the property. This was really pretty and super clean. I’m so thankful for a place to stay where I can do my laundry!

Lovely kitchen. Property bigger than we thought. Lovely and warm. A lovely meet and greet from Keith.

While the cottage is cute and has an amazing view, the photos are extremely dated as are some of the amenities. It's not a drive you would want to make in the dark, so go early and add an extra 20-25 minutes to any day trip you would like to take. The house is no longer alone on the hill as neighbors have encroached so if you are looking at that gorgeous photo of the isolated cottage (as I was) it's a disappointment. In addition, there are now 14 VERY steep stairs. It accommodates improved parking, but it would have been nice to know beforehand.I am certain there will be updates to the property and that will make it a five star booking. As it is, if the photos were current, we'd been able to make an informed choice and might have chosen a different location.

photo's of the listing are not accurate. The large steps on the entrance are replaced by a high steep stair. If I had known this, I would not have booked this place since stairs are an obstacle to me.Tough the property looks good on photo, and the rest of the photo's is correct, the bathroom needs some maintenanceThe cottage has a good heating and comfortable seats, kitchen is well equiped. The bedrooms are spacious and pleasant. But for the main bedroom, a king size or 2 1-persons beds would be al lot more comfortable and the room is large enough. In my opinion the matras is to hard.

Lovely little spot on top of the hill near the Talisker Distillery. Property was as described and there were plenty of sheep nearby so you'd often hear a random bleat in the moments of silence. Would return!

Very comfortable home with lots of room. Great for a base to explore Skye or to just relax. The house was very clean, but a little worn and the kitchen equipment a bit sparse. The Talisker distillery is close by and The Old Inn is definitely worth a visit for a pint and some food.

The house was very clean and very warm and dry! We did incur lots of rain & listening to it in the sunroom was quite nice. There were no "surprises" about the property which is good. Location was great. We were looking for something rural but not so far off the grid that we couldn't find anything. Would absolutely recommend a stay here.

Fabulous position, very spacious, comfortable. Its not luxury but thats clear from the listing and it's very good value compared to other properties for high season Skye. Keith the caretaker was great, helpful. A very lovely and easy stay.

We enjoyed our two night stay here! Walking distance to Talisker distillery, close drive to Fairy Pools. We used it as a base to see other sights on Skye - Quaraing, Kilt Rock and Falls, Old Man of Storr and Portree. The cottage was spacious and comfortable for our group of 5. Lovely views from the cottage as well!

The house was very roomy and comfortable and had all the amenities we could ask for. It had more than enough room for our family of 5 and great views. Would love to have stayed here much longer than 2 nights.

Lovely, cozy 3 bedrrom home perched high above Carbost and the Talisker Distillery. Had views of the Loch and mountain landscape. We walked to and from the distillery, allow a good 30 minutes each way. Also loved the home's sunroom with view of pasture and sheep. Well equipped with everything you need for cooking. Be prepared with groceries although tiny store near distillery, not sure of hours. Cute inn and pub. Make reservations for tours and dinner. Fantastic!

The house is just fine, not great, but just fine. O wasn't a fan of what looks like black mold in the laundry/fridge room.

Peaceful, Authentic Escape with Breathtaking Views! Our stay at this remote spot on the Isle of Skye was truly something special. The location was absolutely stunning — surrounded by incredible views of the loche, rolling hills, and open skies. It felt like a true escape from the world, quiet and peaceful, yet close enough to explore Skye’s beauty. What made this place stand out was the authentic, local feel. It didn’t feel touristy or overly polished — instead, it gave us a real sense of life on Skye, which made the experience all the more meaningful and memorable. The space was cozy, comfortable, and perfectly suited for relaxing after a day of exploring. We loved waking up to the views right outside the window — you just can’t beat that.If you’re looking for a genuine, scenic, and unforgettable stay on Skye, this is the perfect place. Highly recommend!

Location was great, excellent views from both the front and back, parking was really convenient, property manager was very nice (showed us a couple of things and gave some insight about hikes in the area). However, if cleanliness is important to you, this might not be the pick. The floors were swept and the counters wiped, but the caulking in the sunroom was moldy, the blinds were broken, towels were old and in poor condition, the bathroom was in very poor condition (window closure was broken and stuck slightly open, the caulk around the tub was missing, mold all around the tub, mold in the window, mold along the trim on the outside of the tub, the floor was squishy and felt rotten, bath tub faucet did not work), all of the carpet was stained and very old. All of the faucets in the house dripped unless you REALLY wrenched on them (which, in turn, made them difficult to open). The cookware was mostly in poor condition and we were really only able to find one useable pan. No handsoap provided in the bathroom.

Spent two nights on Skye. Lovely views of the hillsides filled with sheep.

this house is not too far off the beaten path and is large and the beds comfortable. Bathroom is a bit dated and the grounds need some up keeping as the grass was very long also the small retaining wall needs some power washing. Mostly the grounds that need to be attended too.

We stayed in this charming and cozy house on the Isle of Skye for four days, using it as a home base while exploring the entire island each day. The service was seamless, and the host was incredibly understanding and responsive. Located not far from the Talisker Distillery, the home offers breathtaking views overlooking the Loch, with plenty of friendly sheep adding to the idyllic atmosphere.
If peace and tranquility are what you seek, this is the perfect place to stay. While there is a small community store with limited hours nearby, it's important to note that the closest town with shops and dining is about a 20–30 minute drive. This remoteness adds to the charm but is something to keep in mind for planning meals and supplies.
With three bedrooms, one bath, and a bonus area, the home met our needs comfortably. We encountered a few hiccups with the heating, but the host promptly answered our call and informed us about a small heater, which we used in the common space, and we made it work. We also appreciated having a washer and dryer to refresh our clothing for the rest of our journey.
There appears to be some mold starting in the laundry room, but it’s being addressed. A dehumidifier is available to help combat the damp atmosphere, which is helpful in this climate.
Overall, this home provided a warm and peaceful retreat in one of Scotland’s most stunning landscapes. I would stay here again.

House was very well priced and the accommodation albeit a little tired possibly reflected this. Location for us good. No check out instructions. Would recommend

Everything was nice, the house outside looks a bit old, and the heating did not work. Rest was pretty good.

Wow. Skye is magical and I'm glad we stayed two nights in this house. The view from the windows of the loch and surrounding countryside is unbeatable. So many stars at night. Amazing silence. Friendly neighbors down the street let us feed their sheep. The home was our comfortable base for exploring the Quiraing Road, Mealt Falls/Kilt Rock, Old Man Storr, Portree, and the Fairy Pools. Got up for the sunrise our last morning. Didn't want to leave! Thank you!

If you are looking for a relatively remote spot with gorgeous views across the loch, this is perfect. The property was warm and cosy, great to hunker down despite the lashing rain and powerful wind outside. A short walk gets you to Talisker distillery, the Old Inn and little local convenience store, so yiu have all you need. Property well equipped and comfortable, great communication with owner - thanks for the opportunity to explores the wilds and wiles of Skye.

Nice property in the beautiful scenic Skye!! However, we got the impression that the host's property keeper wasn't quite ready for us. There was a mattress propped up against one of the dressers and the packaging/plastic cover was in another bedroom on the floor.

The property was spacious, clean and well presented. The enclosed garden was perfect for our dogs and the hard floors were easily kept clean from muddy paws.
The location of the property allowed us to visit many places during our stay and the caretakers local knowledge allowed us to find a beach close by for the dogs to play in the water.
All in all, an excellent place to be in and be based from.

This house was the perfect place to stay on Skye. It has the most amazing views and isn't too far from several gorgeous sites (though a car is still a necessity!) An overall magical place and made us feel right at home. The property manager was super attentive, friendly and easy to reach. He also gave us some great recommendations. We will definitely have to come back!

I loved the house and the layout. The location was beautiful and peaceful. My only suggestion would be to post a new picture of the front. With the updates you've done to the parking its gard to recognize with the curre t picture. I absolutely loved this place.

We had a good time here! The property is big and had all the necessities. It is a very peaceful and beautiful area. The road that leads there is a single lane road, so it was a bit stressful to get there by car, and there is no grocery nearby. It is very easy to get to the Talisker distillery and to the fairy pools from there. Overall, it was an amazing place to stay!
