Welcome to Hatteras Retreat by KEES Vacations!
This home will re-open beginning June 15th, 2026 with a new pool, hot tub, and oceanfront location! Buxton experienced erosion in late 2025, subsequently, this home has been moved from its original location to a new location to account for the rising tides. This home is still in great condition with excellent views of the Atlantic Ocean in Buxton.
You will surely be enchanted by the sweet elegance and southern charm of our pet-friendly home, Hatteras Retreat! Located in Buxton, you will spend time on one of the most prized beaches of Hatteras Island near the renowned Cape Point. Discover endless opportunities for relaxation and fun at this oceanfront home.
Access the beach directly behind the house. Two outdoor showers, foot wash, and a cabana half-bath will welcome you back from a dip in the cool ocean. Whip up some fresh local fish for the whole family on either the gas or charcoal grills.
Entering the first level of the home, you will find a custom rec room with pool table and wet bar to aid in friendly competition. A kitchenette is equipped with a full-size refrigerator, microwave and stand-alone ice machine providing easy access to drinks, snacks, and ice for the cooler. You will find two bedrooms on this level - A King bedroom with deck access, and a kid-friendly bunk room with two Pyramid Twin bunks. There is a full shared bathroom in the hallway.
Walk up to the second level of the home to find four King En Suites, three of which are oceanfront with deck access. The fourth king bedroom has access to a covered deck and handicap features such as a roll-in shower and roll-under sink.
Heading up to the third level of the home, you will be greeted by the main living area with vaulted ceilings and wall-to-wall windows to ensure unobstructed, pristine ocean views! The Master King En Suite is also on this level and features a walk-in closet, master bath with a custom tiled shower and dual vanities, vaulted ceiling, and slider to the oceanfront deck.
The main living room impresses with breathtaking blue-ocean views and the chic coastal decor makes you feel immediately at ease. Watch the morning news on the large-screen home theater system while relaxing on the plush couches. Prep for a family dinner in the gourmet kitchen which includes an entertainment island, dual refrigerators, dual dishwashers for easy clean-up, a 5-burner cooktop, dual wall ovens, and a microwave. When it's time to eat, sit down at the large dining table alongside a wall of windows, offering each guest a seat with a view of the panoramic Atlantic. **Private unheated pools will open on April 16th and close on October 1st. Hot Tubs are available year-round. Pools and hot tubs are cleaned weekly and no later than 6pm on check-in day. Vendors are subject to enter backyard to clean the pool and/or spa on scheduled cleaning days. No pets allowed in pools.**

The house was wonderful, perfect for our group of 14. With a media room, pool and foosball tables, well-appointed kitchen, and the pool and beach right there, it was all we hoped for. The host responded quickly to a few inquiries during and after our stay. We look forward to returning!

We really enjoyed the house and its beautiful views. That said, the house's furnishings are a little worn and scuffed up at closer inspection, which really didn't bother us. The kitchen was lacking pot holders and a can opener. The toaster was broken. The door handle fell off in the master bedroom on fourth floor. The vents - especially in the kitchen - were filthy. We tried not to look at them. Really liked the location and the views. All bedrooms had beautiful views.

The home was located close to the beach which was nice. The condition of the property was ok, but many light bulbs were burned out and the finishes inside the home were beginning to show some wear. We had a great time, but the property could use some love.

It was an average stay. Location was good right at the beach with great views. Property upkeep was below average with some door latches broken, limited pan and pots, limited linens which demonstarted typical big company ownership and management, and a lack of personal touch. We had difficulty accessing the home right at 4pm checkin time.
