About this house rental
La Casina del Forno, due to its location in the heart of eastern Sicily, was historically used as a rest stop for travelers who, coming from the Iblean areas (Ragusa, Modica, Ispica, Scicli, to name a few) reached the Val di Noto from the Syracuse side, passing through the oldest human settlement in Sicily and where one can still see a very interesting necropolis crossed by a river in an exceptionally beautiful nature park, the Valle dell’Anapo. From here, therefore, it was easy (in the days of horses and donkeys) to reach towns such as Megara, Priolo, Augusta, and Melilli, as well as the entire Ionian coast.
Today, times have changed; donkeys and horses have been replaced by vehicles that allow us to reach even the most distant destinations in a short time.
Our “Casina del Forno” is located just 25 minutes from Fontanarossa International Airport (Catania), which is one reason why many of our guests choose it both at the beginning and at the end of their stay in Sicily.
We are pleased to note, however, that most of our valued guests choose to stay with us for the entire duration of their vacation and use this as a base to visit nearby and distant tourist attractions. In fact, all the main tourist attractions of Eastern Sicily are within an hour’s drive of our property and can all be visited on a “one-day trip.”
Even the most distant destinations can be reached with a same-day return trip from our Casina; just consider that Palermo is a two-hour drive away via a convenient highway, Agrigento is 90 minutes away, and the Villa Romana del Casale in Piazza Armerina, with its world-famous mosaics, is 70 minutes away.
You’ll be thrilled by everything you’ll see when you choose “Casina Del Forno.” Enzo and Amelia will provide you with a specially prepared tourist guide to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.
Enzo is at your disposal and can provide detailed recommendations not only on places off the beaten path but also on local food and wine, ranging from street food to the most prestigious restaurants.
