About this house rental

Our 700 sq. foot 2 story home, Miloli'i Beach Bungalow, is located 33 miles south of Kona in Miloli'i. If you are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, you've come to the right place. Our little house in paradise, 550ft from waterfront local snorkeling spot, is perfect for a quiet getaway.

Our home is a 1 bedroom w/ queen size bed, 1.5 bathroom & outdoor shower, full kitchen and living room w/ pullout queen size sofa bed. Tile floors throughout including the lanai. Hang out area under neath with a small bistro table w/ 2 chairs. Brand new construction, just completed in February 2017.

Enjoy lounging on the lanai with a high table and 4 chairs looking out at the waves crash against the shore, beautiful sunsets, watch the whales play and breeching in the bay while you BBQ dinner and star gaze at night.

Less than 5 minutes from the house is the rock which offers some of the best snorkeling and swimming on the Big Island. There is a state beach park about 10 minutes down the road, the speed limit in the neighborhood is on island time, 15mph. A 20min walk to Honomalino Bay is a must when here, it is a secluded black sand beach. Often you find that you'll be the only ones there!!! How exciting to have a black sand beach all to yourselves and so close. The hike over is beautiful, through a bit of jungle and across a few lava fields. Miloli'i is also only 60 miles from the Volcano National Park, so on the big island that would be a day trip. And South Point just down the road from there offers up one of the most beautiful green sand beaches in the world, seas that have come from Antarctica, and the most southern bakery in the USA, with wonderful pastries. Up the hill and 10 miles north towards Kona you can find some other wonderful beaches, Ho’okena, home to a pod of spinner dolphins and the occasional whale, offers snorkeling, kayak rentals, a small food vendor, clean bathrooms, and outdoor fresh water showers. 10 more miles north is The Place of Refuge at Pu'uhonua o Honaunau State Park, also known as Two Step. Amazing snorkeling here and sun bathing. There is a bit of shade and a few picnic tables.

Our neighborhood is strictly residential, the nearest store and gas station are about 20-25mins from the house, in Oceanview, which is south of Miloli'i. It has 2 grocery stores, gas station, gift shop, hardware store, and a few restaurants: Pizza Place, Bar & Grill, L&L BBQ.
Life is always good in Miloli'i!!

House is well stocked, quiet neighborhood, beautiful views. I brought my own propane for the gas grill and extra drinking water, as well as lounge chairs. Totally enjoyed my stay, wanted to stay longer

We wanted to stay away from the crowds and closer to the sights on the south end of the island-the purple house was a perfect fit! We thought the winding road down to the house was fun and offered amazing views. The neighborhood was impressively quiet and the lanai offered a wonderful space to have breakfast, watch the sunset and take in the stars. There was ample space for our group-2 couples and 2 elementary-aged kids, and the house was well-equipped for all sorts of island adventures. We appreciated the washer and dryer and loved the option of the outdoor shower. We hope to be back someday soon!

We loved our stay in the purple house. It was clean and the beach decorations fit the area to a “T.” It had all amenities we could’ve asked for. We ate out on the deck for breakfast and watched spinner dolphins. We snorkeled at Da’ Rock and saw a big variety of fish. It made us feel like we were away from the real world. We would definitely stay there again!

Great property out of the main Kailua-Kona area where lots of people stay. It was exactly what we were looking for when booking the property. We knew the distance to Kona/Waimea (further), to Volcanoes (closer) and just planned our days out accordingly. Once we got the lay of the area of where best to get groceries, water and dump trash/recycling it was all great. There are great beaches around the house (Honomalino Beach - 20 min easy trail walk from Miloli'i Beach), Miloli'i Beach (short 5 min drive, great snorkeling if you want calmer waters - there's a small bay area with lots of reef fish to see...saw a moray eel, too...unusual for shallow areas) and the Rock public access area just 500ft to the left of the driveway. We had lots of days just relaxing and reading on the deck and swimming closely without driving out. The kitchen has great supplies which you don't always get with a vacay rental - good pots/pans, sharp knives, good appliances- pretty much anything you would need in any home. Ginger and Roger have thought of many amenities one might need or want especially if you're looking to do your own meals. The house is well situated in a quiet residential community. The drive down from the highway is a bit windy and steep. Take it slow in the dark, but during the day it was fine. And once you've driven it a couple times, it's no biggie in our opinion. We would return for another "off the beaten track" sort of holiday. We really enjoyed our stay!

We loved staying at purple house! The house had everything we needed and we enjoyed the deck/views also. The owners are very responsive, and kept us up to date when Mauna Loa erupted during our stay. (Which turned out to not be a big deal, but was amazing to see the lava flows!) we loved the property and location and hope to come back to visit again!

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at The Purple House. The homeowners have done a fantastic job with this home, making sure that it has just about everything you need for a stay on the Big Island. The home is newer construction, so there were no issues with anything. The home is located at the bottom of the mountain, near the ocean and has a very exciting road to drive to get to it! You are only an hour from Kona, about 15 minutes from grocery & fuel. We loved it and will definitely return!!!❤️🏝💯
