About this chalet rental

The chalet has its' own drive, pretty garden, car port, plenty of storage for skis, bicycles. It has stunning views of the Valley D'Abondance and is under 5 minute drive to the Panthiaz lift station. Ground floor - entrance hall with ski storage; laundry room/drying room with washing machine; and twin bedroom with shower room/WC. Stairs to First floor - WC; sitting room with a very efficient log burning stove, wifi and English TV with DVD player, large selection of DVD's and games, access to balcony, separate well equipped kitchen with dishwasher, access to terrace and garden. Stairs to Third floor - 2 double bedrooms with kingsize beds and plenty of storage space and doors to balcony,, 1 twin bedroom, bathroom with bath, shower over bath (good water pressure) WC and basin.

We travelled to Portes du Soleil with our two children, aged 5 & 6 for February half term 2025.The booking process was seamless and Emma provided just the right amount of information we needed, including recommendations for ski schools. We checked in late, which wasn’t a problem at all, and the chalet was spotlessly clean, beds made up and ready to go for the first day’s skiing. The VRBO advert doesn’t do the chalet justice - it is ideally placed for a very short drive to the main lift, SuperChatel and I dropped my family off just beneath the lift in a 15-min drop zone, then parked a little lower down the village. By the time I then got to the top of the gondola, the children had just started ski school each day and we could then have a couple of hours skiing to ourselves before carrying on skiing with the children for the rest of the day. The chalet is perfect and traditional, nicely equipped, wonderfully decorated with various paintings including panel paintings on the wardrobes and dining benches, very cosy and with the most amazing log fire which heats most of the house. The ground floor has a great space for storing and maintaining skis and drying boots, cleaning laundry etc. The balconies are great for late afternoon drinks or for the brave - al fresco breakfast!We have no hesitation in recommending Emma and her husband (and of the course the chalet) for a wonderful, peaceful, stay. Thanks so much for a great week.

This is a truly great chalet in a very convenient location. Everything you need will be there and in good condition. You can easily reach various starting points to enter the ski resort, the supermarket is close by, and although the main road is right below, it is a really quite place to stay. Emma, who is renting out the place, was great in communicating everything and made sure we had a good start to our vacation. I can recommend this chalet without reservation!

We had a lovely week in Chapelle. The mountains are beautiful and there are lots of things to do. The house is spacious and clean. Everything you need is available. We have made trips to Montreux, Lausanne, Evian and Thonon. We also had soms niet hikes and have experienced the Fantasticable in Chatel. We highly recommend this house.

What a nice holiday home in a very quiet and charming area. Although it is only a few minutes’ drive to the ski lifts, you are in the middle of the Portes du Soleil area in no time. You can also opt for the often very quiet local ski areas. The chalet is a perfect base with all the facilities you could wish for. Spacious, neat and clean and a lovely south-facing balcony. March gives enough sun in the valley but I can imagine that in January the sun doesn't shine as well over the mountain. Everything works properly and communication with the owner was perfect. Very nice that we could stay here with our dogs.

We stayed for a week in this chalet during a week in January. The chalet is spacious, well equipped, and has a fantastic view from the large window in the living room. The nearby village of Chapel d'Abbondance is charming and offers various nice restaurants. The village Chatel offers also many shops and is more turistic. Directly opposite the road is a path along the river for a walk whilst enjoying nature. There are several options for skiing, depending how advanced you are. Emma, the owner of the chalet, quickly assisted us when we didn't manage to lock the door, as we hadn't understood the French way of pulling the door handle up, whilst locking the door! We had a wonderful holiday!

The location of Emma’s chalet is incredible. At a couple of hundred meters there is this farm selling delicious local cheese. There is also a proper supermarket at a 3 minutes’ drive. There are skitouring options within walking distance, on the first day we literally put on the skis on the balcony and skied back down to it after a good day out (ok we were lucky with the snow). With a bit of fresh snow every night the drive provided the perfect learning slope for our 4 year old on skis and for the smaller kids on sledges. We also ventured on foot to La Panthiaz where there is a sledge slope between the cross-country runs, nice day out with the little ones too! There is plenty of space for skis, sledges and the like in the basement, although things didn’t dry very well there so we took jackets, gloves & co upstairs for drying. There is a user-friendly fireplace providing a super cosy atmosphere in the evenings (and remarkably powerful as heating actually!) with plenty of dried wood just outside the chalet. A great kitchen with enough room to do proper cooking for 2 families, 4 spacious bedrooms, 2 bathrooms… what else do you want? The carport is also a nice topping, saving you the usual car de-snowing in the morning. In this Corona season all French lifts were closed and not many tourists around, so we had huge amounts of untouched snow and virtually no one to steal us the first track up or down through forests and virgin faces of powder. If snow is less good but lifts are open, the Châtel, Morgins & Avoriaz resorts provide options to easily fill up one week and not get bored!
