"Overall the villa was great. Michael the manager also great. Being picky, the villa could do with more cereal bowls and some more comfy seating in the lounge area. There were 5 of us and only 4 seats."

We stayed here May 2022 for 4 weeks. It's a nice villa with a beautiful pool. We hoped for 4 relaxing weeks. But.......the neighbours in front of the villa are owning 5 dogs. In the daytime it's not that bad, but from 19:00 till midnight it's almost continuous barking, every evening. We tried to talk to owners of the dogs but the only response we got was 'we live in the mountains....'. They were very unfriendly. In the evening and in the weekend they receive friends, they also were very loud. We both had to wear noice-cancellation headphones to try ignore the sound pollution. We informed the owner about this, and she gave us the option to leave the villa and refund our money. That was a generous gesture, but the option to go home is not what we want. My wife had a very bad year and needed a holiday. We tried to find an other villa but all was full or too expensive. So, we decided to stay. We tried to go away from the villa every day as long as possible, but the evenings at the villa were terrible. Because the 5 dogs are barking, every dog in the neighbourhood went barking. What also needs mentioned....the villa has two roads beside it, one in front and one on the right. These are the main roads to reach the other villas above. In the afternoon between 17:00 and 19:30 every few minutes cars are coming by. The problem is that it is steep uphill, so the car engines need revving up with a lot of noise of course, especially the diesel engines. We think this must be mentioned in the description. Positive is the contact with the owner, she is helpful where she can. There are some (minor) things that need to de repaired : 1. Garagedoor not working(was mentioned when we arrived) 2. Ovenlight not working(was mentioned after we arrived) 3. Electricity on the right side of the terrace and dining room was not working(mentioned after we arrived) 4. Airco in the 2nd bedroom stopped working.(this can happen) If the owners of the villa in front were normal social people and would behave as it should be, this holiday could ne nearly perfect. But the reality is that they are living there, and have no respect for the neighbours. The owner of the villa promised to do something about this, but we already know that it will be pointless. At least, it's too late for us. We were looking forward to this holiday, but the neighbours ruined it. We are really sorry for this negative review, but it must be said.

Stayed for five weeks over Christmas and New Year with my wife, two children, and sporadic visits from my elderly parents (who live locally). Property manager was friendly, helpful, and generally responsive. But the property was very cold, and only two of the rooms were adequately heated (one, not at all). Moreover, we had to pay additional fees for every propane canister used. Would perhaps be a great spot for a spring/summer visit. But would not recommend staying here off-season.

We had a pleasant stay. Good contact with the owner and the carekeeper. Nice view outside. The airco in the two bedrooms downstairs made the whole house cooler, wich was good.

The villa is clean, well equipped and with its huge garden much larger than then the photos show. Its location is wonderful both as a base for exploring the Costa Blanca as well as for simply staying put with the lovely pool, BBQ area and sun terraces at the villa. We had a lovely host. The fast and easy communication upfront and the warm welcoming at check in made our stay totally carefree. Highly recommended!

We spent 15 nights at the Villa Rising Sun. The pool was fantastic. The kids were in it morning, ,noon and night. Great vistas of the Altea area. The villa is too far from the village to walk, but is in a great central location for day trips between Alicante and Denia. The house is adequate, but a little run down. Great outdoor dining area. The kitchen is cramped, but the rest of the house had plenty of room for our group of 4 adults and 3 children. Michael who looks after the property was always available to answe questions by text. Fantastic holiday.

From the short and scenic drive up the hill, climbing and winding up towards the mountains ( it's nearly at the very top of the road, yet convenient to stores just 3 minutes by car) I just knew that I had picked the right place out of the numerous vacation villas I had pondered over. As this was my first trip to Spain, I wasn't sure what to expect, after travelling extensively and staying at other villas within Hawaii, Mexico and Australia. This is definately one of my favorites! There is no traffic and you could easily walk into the little village. The small town of Altea is a perfect place for strolling along the marina and visiting the little shops and because of it's size, the views of the night sky were amazing from the villa if you are into stargazing. We really enjoyed waking up every morning having a coffee on the veranda and listening to the birds singing. From the entrance of the drive, there are majestic peaks reminding me a lot of Yosemite right outside of your back door. The heavy wood door entrance, and the tiled floors, sparkling clean windows with panormanic views and the updated kitchen were a wecoming suprise. We enjoyed the crystal clear pool and the ocean view of the Mediterranean Sea was visible from almost every point of the property. The beds were very comfortable, and the villa is spacious, plenty of room to get lost with a good book. The outdoor bbq area with an oversized dining table is perfect place to have a nice dinner. The garden is alive with various trees and plants and be sure to spend some time observing the birds in a natural habitat. Only minutes from town, yet you are secluded and feel very private with an expanse of nature and forest surrounding you. I look forward to coming back again next winter as the climate is perfect and we will make use of the cozy living area with a fireplace. Also, the reservation process was quick and painless and the owner had simple and very good directions to find the location of the property. Thanks Hera for a fantastic stay! Jennifer B.
