Jackass Flats Greasewood Grocery Cabin

We enjoyed our 2 night stay at the Greasewood Grocery. The cabin is right off the main road headed to Terlingua. It’s is a rain water only non-potable water source, which was not a problem for us. We brought our own water for drinking. The shower has an instant-hot water heater., which worked great. The AC kept us cold. It does have WiFi, but we did not test it during our stay. The host is very friendly and check-in process was simple. Great place to use as a base camp while exploring the Big Bend area. 👍 PS. We did have several people stop by thinking it really was a small grocery store. 😂

Pam was the best. Before we arrived she gave great hiking tips for BBNP and lots of info on the area around the cabin. The cabin was everything we needed to explore the area. It was clean and comfortable. If you need extra supplies, you can find the a mile to the south at the Little Burro Country Store. The night sky is unbelievable!!!!

No cell signal but fast internet. I loved sitting on the porch either watching the sparse traffic or in the back watching the sunset. This has the amenities of a hotel room but with much more character. There’s a fridge and microwave, but not much space, and you have to bring your own drinking water. The national park and any restaurant was farther away than I expected so plan ahead! Communication was great with the owner. It certainly has its drawbacks but the character made up for it. 5 stars!

The bed was probably the most comfortable I'd slept in on my trip. Didn't like not having hot water in the wash basin. Hard to shave in a shower. A little bit futher from Big Bend than I thought.
