Life in the town of Plencia, founded in 1299 and once dedicated to whaling, revolves around its estuary, its beach, and the sea.
The recently renovated apartment is located in the harbor, facing the estuary and near the town’s historic center. It offers quick access to the promenade that runs from the estuary to its mouth and all the way around the bay, which, fortunately, is environmentally protected, preserving its natural beauty for the enjoyment of passersby.
Plencia is located 25 km from Bilbao and is connected by the metro, which reaches the center of the capital in 45 minutes. From the apartment, walking along the estuary, it takes 15 minutes to reach the metro.
We enjoy surfing at Plencia Beach or the nearby beaches of Barrika and Sopelana, but we also love exploring the estuary by SUP (stand-up paddleboarding) or kayak.
The historic center of Plencia is full of charm, with its church, its beautifully restored old fishermen’s houses, and its bars where you can enjoy an aperitif… though the real heart of the town is the port and its long promenade along the bay, whether on foot or by bike. There are also well-marked trails that run along the coast. On rainy days and in winter, life is quieter, but there are always those who venture out to stretch their legs, bundled up warmly. On sunny days and in summer, Plencia fills with people eager to enjoy nature, the sea, and the beach.
