Vacation on an authentic East Frisian mound near Neuharlingersiel
The “Warfthof” is a former East Frisian farmhouse near the North Sea spa town of Neuharlingersiel on the North Sea coast. We still have quite a few small animals and pets here on the farm, so there’s always plenty to experience here on our property.
Here at the “Warfthof,” you’ll find the peaceful and rejuvenating getaway you expect from your North Sea vacation.
With three beautiful, modern, cozy vacation apartments—each about 70 or 55 square meters in size—our farm is situated away from all main roads, between the North Sea spa town of Neuharlingersiel and the state-recognized climatic health resort of Werdum, a green oasis of tranquility on the North Sea. Neuharlingersiel and Werdum are located near the unique natural wonder known as the “Lower Saxony Wadden Sea National Park,” a “UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site” since 2009.
On a beautiful bike ride, you can reach the North Sea spa town of Neuharlingersiel or, in the other direction, the charming, cozy village of Werdum.
The state-recognized climatic health resort of Werdum lies 4 km as the crow flies from the dike and the North Sea, a green oasis in the midst of the East Frisian countryside. Werdum is a small, cozy village that welcomes guests year-round, offering above all peace and relaxation away from the tourist hustle and bustle of the Siel villages and North Sea resorts.
Werdum is an old, organically developed village built on mounds, whose history dates back to around the year 1300, and it features historic architecture typical of the region, such as the Häuptlingsburg, the Erdholländer windmill from 1748, St. Nicolai Church, and an old-fashioned blacksmith’s shop.
Werdum has everything you need and plenty of sights and attractions that will make your vacation even more enjoyable: a wealth of events (more than 100 in the summer alone), the old churchyard, and the village square with the Werdum Country Brewery, the East Frisian Werdum Mill, the “Haus des Gastes,” the Kneipp therapy hall, spa facilities, the “Rasender Kalle” tourist train, guest curling, bike tours with barbecues, covered wagon rides, horseback riding for people with disabilities, restaurants, the coastal brewery, and much more.
You should also take your children to the Haustierpark in Werdum. This unique little zoo is especially popular with young visitors. You can feed or pet the animals and playfully explore the diverse world of domestic and farm animals from every continent.
Your evening stroll along the dike through the unique natural wonder “Lower Saxony Wadden Sea National Park”—a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site since 2009—is just a few minutes away by car or a short bike ride.
The North Sea spa town of Neuharlingersiel is a 300-year-old fishing village with an active fleet of crab boats. In the beautiful historic fishing harbor, East Frisian fishing is still actively practiced today by many crab boats.
