Location: Casa de Sonho, nestled in the beautiful hills of Eiras Altas at the tip of a ridge above the small village of Hortas, near the small town of Santa Catarina da Fonte do Bispo and the picturesque city of Tavira.
The spacious villa is situated on high ground in a tranquil setting with mature gardens surrounded by extensive natural grounds (12,500 m²). Large sun terraces with a swimming pool invite visitors to admire magnificent views of the Algarve landscape, including views of the sea. The property offers complete privacy, allowing you to enjoy the peace of the countryside in its unspoiled surroundings, surrounded by olive, carob, and medronho trees. The area offers excellent hiking and cycling opportunities, and in the spring, the hills are covered with an abundance of wildflowers.
Casa de Sonho combines modern architecture with the use of natural decorative stones. Upon entering the house through the south-facing living room, visitors are greeted by elegant, sculptural lounge furniture in a modern, retro style that creates a light and natural atmosphere. The room features a fireplace and satellite TV. In an open-plan layout, a well-equipped, spacious kitchen opens onto a large dining area where light, contemporary furniture sets the scene for breathtaking views of nature—facing south, over the hills toward the sea.
A bathroom with a shower and a hidden utility room adjacent to the kitchen complete the upper level. Air conditioning and free Wi-Fi are available throughout the entire property. One level down, you’ll find a spacious hallway leading to the three bedrooms and a bathroom with a shower, tub, and bidet. The master bedroom, furnished with modern wild oak designer furniture, features an en-suite bathroom with a shower and a large two-person bathtub. Another bedroom of equal size is furnished with a king-size bed and a small dressing table. The third bedroom is smaller and has two single beds. All bedrooms feature spacious closets. The three bedrooms open onto the large south-facing terraces and pool area, which feature a large granite outdoor dining table under a custom shade sail and a built-in BBQ.
The property, located at the tip of a ridge, welcomes visitors via a spacious, traditional Portuguese cobblestone driveway. It features a shaded carport and parking for 6 cars. Access to the property is via a paved road from Route N270; the final section is a 1-kilometer dirt track leading to the villa. A car is recommended for this location.
The house has its own solar panel and solar hot water system, thereby helping to protect the Algarve’s environment.

The villa is absolutely beautiful and in a stunning setting. The photos don't do it justice. It is so peaceful and the pool is a great size and was perfect for our teenage boys. Both inside and outside it is spacious and pretty amazing. The track to the villa needs to be mentioned however as it's a 7 minute drive on a dirt track which initially was quite stressful as it's very uneven, up and down hill and with no signage or lighting. We had an SUV and definitely recommend as you need the higher clearance and bigger wheels to cope with the rocks. Feel this should be clearer in listing as it's definitely not for everyone. We also had to be obsessively clean due to ants. My husband is already pretty obsessive but this was another level to stop invasions. No crumb could be left or the ants were there in minutes. Appreciate it's in the middle of the countryside but it was by far the worst case we've dealt with on our holidays. We did just become used to it but again people should be aware. If it's a hideaway type of holiday then the villa gives you just that.

The villa is lovely and looks just like the photos with the great addition of a large sun sail on the terrace which is not in the photos. The views from the villa are excellent. The kitchen is well stocked with crockery and utensils. As others have commented the location is quite isolated and it involves travelling over 1km on track roads but this mean it was very peaceful. The reason it wasn’t 5* for us was due to constant daily battle with ants inside the property including in the bedrooms and the water pump breaking during our stay, meaning we were left without running water for over 24hours whilst they tried to get it fixed. I would also advise to take mosquito repellant for your stay Overall we did enjoy our stay and the kids loved spending their days in the pool.

We had an absolutely fantastic stay at this beautiful holiday home in Portugal! We spent 10 days there with a group of friends and couldn’t have been happier. The house is spacious, very well-equipped, and perfect for a group trip. The outdoor area is amazing — with a large terrace, a lovely pool, and breathtaking views over the surrounding landscape. It felt like a private paradise.The communication with the property management was outstanding — always quick, helpful, and super accommodating.One thing to be aware of: the road to the house is a bit of a challenge. You need to drive about 15 minutes on a gravel track, so a car with higher clearance or even an SUV is highly recommended. Also, one of the bathrooms lacks a mosquito net leading outside, which did allow some bugs in — not a big issue, but worth mentioning.All in all, we would absolutely recommend this place and would love to return one day. A dream spot for anyone looking to relax, enjoy nature, and spend quality time with friends.
