The beautiful beach curves 2.5km around the coast from Tomaree Head to Nelson Bay and offers calm bay waters perfect for swimming, kayaking and stand up paddle boarding (available for hire every day during the high seasons of school holidays, long weekends and Easter). There are BBQ facilities and picnic tables along the beachside reserve, and less than 1km further along the foreshore, you can climb Mount Tomaree for spectacular views from the summit. Right on your doorstep you will find waterfront eateries, bars and shops, including the popular Country Club Hotel, and just a 5-minute drive brings you to the township of Nelson Bay. Such a good spot! We had a great stay in shoal bay, a bit of a mix up at the start when the property manager gave us the wrong keys and I had to go back to Nelson bay to swap them, I also was contacted to say some valuers may need to walk through the property which I felt was a little invasive and could have waiting until after we left. Apart from that, the house was great! Really clean and nice, such a nice walk down to shoal bay and so close to everything! We would definitely be back!
