About this cottage rental
The mansion Fabre Vieux, which dates from 1642, is located on the limestone plateaus of Quercy Blanc, south of the medieval town of Cahors.
The owner Maria Van Bakelen has restored the buildings in the respect of the original architecture, between 1990 and 2005 (stone walls, mortise and tenon joinery, large chimneys and round tower with a height of ten meters).
The restoration has come to an end after these years of work.
The buildings consist of two adjoining houses: the TOWER HOUSE (private) and the STAIR HOUSE (for 5 to 6 pp); a large barn including the theater workshop and two housing units: the cottage LAVENDER (3 to 4 pp) and the cottage OLEANDER (3 pp) with a large covered terrace with an outside kitchen.
In 2011 a new cottage is built 30 m away from the Chateau, the FOURNIL - the BAKERY HOUSE, with a traditional oven and an independent garden (for 4 pp).

In the dining room, the large window offers a beautiful panorama of the hills.
The combination of a traditional bread oven with modern architecture gives a pleasant atmosphere.
On the ground floor there is the living room with sitting area, the open kitchen corner and a dining area; the bathroom (toilet, shower, sink) and 2 bedrooms: 1 with a double bed and 1 with 2 single beds.
Outside:
On the south-west and west side there is a terrace with 4 garden chairs.
The grounds around the manor house spread over a gently sloping four-hectare hill, from where the view is splendid.
The mansion has a 10 x 5 m pool for landlords.

A return trip to this lovely property. We enjoyed the swimming pool and had a relaxing time despite being there in a heat wave.

We had a calm and soothing stay in this little house where you are always in touch with the wild surroundings of the Quercy.

This is a nice property. It’s accessed up a dirt/ farmers track. The property enjoys a good amount of privacy from the main house where the owners live. There is a very short walk to the swimming pool which is a good size and was kept clean the whole time we were there.
The property is well equipped, but would benefit from having its own washing machine (the owners say you can use theirs but that felt a bit awkward), an oven and perhaps a TV/DVD player.
However it is very peaceful and quiet and in a good location to explore the local area. Overall we’ve had a great holiday here!
