About this cottage rental

With its breathtaking views across Loch Fyne to the Arrochar Alps, Newton Cottage North is located within a short walking distance of Inveraray, a historic Scottish town.

With a pedigree dating back to the 1850s, and previously owned by the Duke of Argyll, the cottage is part of the town’s conservation area and stands alongside an interesting range of period properties.

Interior
Recently fully renovated by its new owners, the seafront cottage has a new kitchen and new flooring in the cosy downstairs living room, with its small dining area and French doors leading to the spacious back garden. The centrepiece of the living room is its cheerful log fire set in a delightful antique fireplace.

The front window looks straight out onto the loch, with sweeping views of the hills to the north, east and south.

Upstairs there are two inviting double bedrooms and a family bathroom. The rear bedroom has views over the garden, while the front bedroom has majestic views over Loch Fyne to the hills on the other side of the sea loch.

When you wake in the morning you can enjoy the impressive views and bird life without getting out of your cosy bed. Both bedrooms are stylishly decorated, ideal for a romantic retreat. The modern bathroom features a full size bath with electric shower and screen, basin and toilet.

The garden is sheltered on three sides by high walls, including a historic stone-built barn. The garden offers a safe play area for children and, is ideal for barbeques, sun-bathing and listening to the birdsong. There is a parking area at the top end of the garden and an outhouse where bikes, canoes and kayaks can be stored.

Newton Cottage North has a sister cottage next door Newton Cottage South which can also be rented. When both cottages are combined they sleep 8 persons comfortably. Ideal for larger parties.

Explore
Newton Cottage North is ideally situated within a short walk along the seafront to Inveraray, one of Scotland’s earliest planned towns. Inveraray offers a range of welcoming restaurants and shops. Adults and children alike will enjoy a visit to the town’s historic jail.

It was not very clean, particularly the floor. Cooker hobs were rusty, frying pan was rusty. I had to buy one to use. Fridge fell forward from under the unit when you opened the door. There was a live earwig in the microwave. Could not open the wardrobe door in the front bedroom as there was a light fitting stopping it. There was nowhere to put any clothes. Mattress was lumpy & you could feel the springs. Shower was useless it only stayed at a reasonable temperature for about 4 seconds then it was either scorching hot or ice cold . The only good thing about it was the hot water, lovely duvet on the bed & good oil filled radiators. Also the location. We would not stay here again.

The house is well organised. I will share three remaks to help you to improve it : - we didn't find a hairdryer; - it was impossible to dry our clothes in the garden (with the sun) because the rope for hanging is durty, broken so too short - the table legs are now too short: they need to be wedged Thank you again for this booking: we will come again!

This property needs some tender loving care. There were dirty dishes in the cupboard, no paper towels supplied and only the bare minimum of just about everything. The owner took several hours to respond to a question. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was nice enough. The location was very nice and we loved Inveraray.

Superb location, view and comfy bed. This property was fine for 2 of us but ground floor area would be too small for any more people to be comfortable. It would be helpful if a cupboard or shelf could be cleared to enable own food storage. Cooker and fridge could be upgraded. Description needs to point out that the garden is shared. Location instructions for arrival are poor. You have to find the house on the busy road and then enter house to find parking instructions, which are also unclear. Information pack could give info on nearest doctor /hospital etc if needed.

Newton North was wonderful. Perfectly equipped, lovely decor, great location with marvellous views across the loch. Thoughtful extra touches like hot water bottles, binoculars, ice packs already in the freezer, etc. The only down side was the main road, which ran past the front door, with lorry traffic starting from early morning.
