Boulderdash Cabin Riverfront retreat!

My family and i loved this place. The property is beautiful, the hosts are friendly, and it was located in close driving distance to some great places.

We loved our stay in the cabin! The whole team was so friendly and helpful with any questions. They even helped us with our flat tire. The beds were clean, soft, and comfortable. The kitchen and bath were well stocked. Access to the river is quick and easy. We loved getting to feed to deer, birds, and squirrels. Our dog loved the large porch. We definitely plan to come back!

We absolutely loved our stay in Carol-Anne & Lyn's cabin on the Medina!! They, Andrea, and the pups were so welcoming, kind, & helpful. Since this place is on the river, I had prepared myself for a lower expectation of cleanliness, but was I wrong & so pleasantly surprised. The cabin was incredibly clean & tidy! It had all the comforts of home when it came to the kitchen, so cooking and grilling was a breeze. Plenty of plush towels & extras. The beds were comfortable and the bedding was soft & inviting. The one private access bedroom was perfect for our adult daughter & the bunk beds were fun for our two little ones. We loved having coffee on the huge porch with the wildlife. This is such a safe & peaceful property. The river is a short trek away with plenty of spots to soak & explore. I was worried about finding a quiet spot on the river for the day, but it was the complete opposite. There is plenty of amazing riverfront to spread out from others, but also opportunities to say hi to other visitors if you like. The water was so clear with beautiful views! Our kids loved catching frogs & crawdads in the evenings. Bandera is nearby if you need anything, plus they have some needed items in the office for sale. We ordered pizza from the Dough Joe in town & it was excellent. Thank you so much for the wonderful vacation & for all your hospitality! Your efforts toward guest comfort & extras show! This was one of the best & most relaxing trips we have taken. Highly recommended!

We had a fabulous time here! The house was cozy and clean and right next to the water. Our family loved building a rock dam and skipping rocks on the colder days and floating on the river in tubes on the warmer days. We went into San Antonio one day. Our dog stayed at the cabin. The owner took Penny out for a long walk for a very reasonable fee. It was great to know that Penny was taken care of while we were visiting the sites in San Antonio. Thank you!

Property was perfect, and had everything we needed. Enjoyed feeding all the critters. Deer, squirrels, turkeys, Porcupine, birds etc. house was extremely comfortable! Hated to leave. Back home and missing the porch already.

We had such a great time. Very relaxing place. We will be back next year. Thank you so much for having us.

We had such a great time at the Boulderdash cabin. The property is gorgeous and has great river access. The cabin was clean and well stocked with anything you could possibly need to stay. The owners and camp host were wonderful and very helpful. We hope to be back again!

Very clean, comfortable place in a great location. Had everything needed. It was a perfect place for our family’s annual post-Thanksgiving get away.

We booked this place and, a day or two later, I emailed the owner and requested a modification to the trip date (reduce by 1 day). Owner did not agree. Clearly the $ is more important than being cordial and accommodating to guests. Fine. So we stick with the original plans. In fairness to the owner, she was right, we were beyond their designated "change period". So then we drive down and the drive takes longer than expected, and we arrive at 2am. We had the code to the door, enter it, and .. nothing. We are locked out. At 2am with a crabby, tired baby and crabby, upset 7 yr old son. So I email the owner at 2am and apologize for the hour, but no response. I didn't expect one given the hour. But I also did not have a #. The owners don't give it out. They DO have a local caretaker/contact. We called him 20X. No answer. So we figure we gotta drive to a local hotel about 45 minutes away. My wife calls VRBO and long story short, thank GOD they can get a hold of the owner and the owner opens the door remotely! Hallelujah!! But needless to say, we were freaking out, and if VRBO had not come through, we would have been sleeping in the car with an infant, child, and dog, or driving until 3:30 AM and checking into a hotel at 4am, which would have totally wasted the next day as well. So the place is cool. There is a very limited number of DVDs and old VHS tapes to watch, but when you have nothing to watch, HEY, anything is entertaining, right? Sometimes you want to come in from a day at the river and watch a movie, and the options are few, plus a VHS player.. really? The cabin is nice. Everything you need in one decent sized place. Problem.. if you want privacy, don't come here. Don't get me wrong. I suppose some people want to escape civilization and go to more civilization by the river, but not us. I prefer privacy and seclusion. There is a limited amount of space (a few acres it seems) yet they rent to tent campers who will be very near you. Location was OK. Its nice but not that green..its kinda on the edge of Hill Country and south Texas desert. River is very nice and close. Fishing for catfish good. The final thing that left us with a sour taste was that my wife complained and asked for just 1/2 of the $ back for the first night due to the door code issue... owners say NO again. So, in return, we are never coming here again. The place is fairly cool but $ trumps everything for the owners, and there is little privacy.

We booked last minute and owners were great at communication and gave us personalized tips for our family. Cabin was beautiful and clean. Facilities were beautiful and very very well stocked. Third bedroom has a separate door with its own entrance. So if your kid wanted to use the bathroom in the night they would have to go outside to get in. Not an issue for us, but nice to know. Everything we forgot, we found already in the cabin. They had smore stuff, lighter fluid, bbq sauce, you name it. We made friends with some of the other residents. It isn’t super private, but we weren’t looking for that. It was great to have other kids to play with. Very dog friendly. They even had dog beds and doggy biscuits. Water was very slow moving and my 6 year old had no problem navigating the one man kayak. The rocks are gorgeous and wildlife kept us all entertained. We will definitely be back.

Boulderdash is a beautiful place! When they say everything is provided but the groceries they are not joking! We packed several things that we didn't even need. The place was spotless and the beds were really comfortable! Hope to go back someday! Thank you so much for sharing your place so that others can experience this!

We had a wonderful time at this property. It was well stocked and very clean. I could have left 1/3 of the supplies I brought at home. They had everything we needed. The lake was awesome! Our kids loved fishing off of the Kayaks. The property looks exactly as pictured. Overall, we had a great time!

Very serene and peaceful. Perfect place to unplug and unwind. Campers from the campground and RV park came over, had a beer and chatted for a bit. The cabin was perfect and the front porch amazing. The kitchen was well stocked and left us wanting for nothing. This was the perfect long weekend get-away. Thank you for sharing your awesome space!

Couldnt have found a nicer place to stay over er the weekend. Great location. Clean. Perfect size. Comfortable beds. Wish our stay was longer. But we'll be back soon.

We had a wonderful, relaxing weekend. Cabin was as expected. Everything we needed was there. We were greeted by our host who were welcoming and wonderful. Plan to return!
